Rob, your videos are a life saver. I’m doing the academy this year and I have absolutely zero mechanical ability so have been studying all your videos and this is the first thing I’m going to do to the car. Thank you sir!

Any tips or buying advise for comfort?

Hi Craig. I have the Sparco Club X1 which I have found to be brilliant for a track day helmet. So much so that when I bought my race gear I bought the equivalent Sparco helmet with FHR posts required for racing. I have recommend to several friends and they to have found it to be good and great value. If at all possible I would recommend visiting a specialist to try. However, here’s a link to the helmet, I’m sure Demon Tweeks will be able to assist you and ship. Cheers, Rob www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/sparco-club-x1-helmet-matt-black-1003284/

Hi Rob I've just bought a superlight and even with narrow racing footwear I cant get foot past brake pedal (is catching by 2/3mm) to even hit the accelerator. The Accelerator is maybe a couple of inches further away past the brake. Hope that makes sense? What should I shift? Ideally I need to shift the brake pedal to towards the clutch a few mm. Or put the brake forwards and maybe bring the Accelerator towards my seat. Advice please.

Hi Craig. First of all, congratulations, what a fantastic car! I think you have a few options here. First of all, it can often be helpful to have a second person with you when adjusting your pedals to get a good view from above with the pedal cover removed. There are 2 pivot points for the throttle, take a look and see which location yours is mounted in. Word of warning, it's really fiddly so make sure you have plenty of time before touching it! Second option is to move the brake pedal, this is fairly easily to do by moving the adjustments and is covered in this video. The final option is brut force! Often the gap of the throttle pedal is adjusted with persuasion with a crow bar! If you are unsure, I would really recommend a visit to your nearest specialist, they will be able to get the pedals fitted to you easily I'm sure. Please do not hesitate to get back in contact if you have any further questions though. Regards, Rob

Thanks Rob all sorted I used you video and shifted the brake pedal towards the front of the car and then squeezed it over 1 cm. Now perfect.

Hi Rob...is there any way I can lower the accelerator pedal height? I have 2016 420r and the pedal is above the ball of my toe so prone to unwanted inputs over bumps...so to speak. Cheers, Greg

Hi Greg. Sounds almost as though you're looking for a longer pedal? Not sure if this is something you can buy? Otherwise, I wonder if your pedal is at too much of an angle? There are a couple of possibilities with the throttle pedal. If you look at the pivot point where it meets the chassis, you will see an alternative location. The bolt is really tricky to reach, so make sure you attempt this when you have the time (I wonder how I know this?!) The other adjustment is the 'bike brake ' style adjuster on the throttle body end of the cable, this is used to take up any slack in the cable. I will ask others if they have any ideas with reference to alternative throttle pedals and I'll let you know. Best regards, Rob

@@roboladland Cheers Rob. I'm also wondering whether it is simply the case that my previous 2001 k series 1800 SS (with a fortune spent on it at DVA Power etc.) came with carpets, whereas my 420r has the rubber mat straight on the floor...I've ordered an extra mat to start with...

I wondered?! I wish I kept my 420R, I think that’s the absolute sweet spot for a Caterham. Let me know how you get on and I will see if I can find out more about options for the pedal. Cheers, Rob
