Thanks and quick question. I have been told to never touch the rotor; is this still correct ?
@TowerEBikes
@TowerEBikes 2 жыл бұрын
It's good not to touch the rotor in order to not taint it in any way, but it's certainly not the end of the world if you do.

Is any way to adjust outside pad , mine seem to rubbing against brake disk slightly 🤔?
@TowerEBikes
@TowerEBikes 2 жыл бұрын
This adjustment will center the pads around the disk. If your outer pad is still rubbing then the disk would need to be adjusted. Hope this helps.

Got some good tips here, but one problem: 3:00 adjusting the front brake. My cable has slipped out of the lock nut there at the end. I cannot figure out how to put it back! It does not want to slide along that little flange...and it keeps slipping off because the bolt/nut it connects to and where the cable secures is INSIDE from that flange. So...I'm stumped.

So all I need is an allen wrench to tighten the brakes as they wear?
@TowerEBikes
@TowerEBikes 2 жыл бұрын
That's correct! They will need to be continually adjusted every 100-300 miles depending on how hard you ride the bike.

Appreciate the video. At 3:32 in the video you mention adjusting the thing up by the brakes out but you don't really say how to do that. Can you clarify? Thanks!
@W0rldCitizen
@W0rldCitizen 2 жыл бұрын
Never mind I was able to figure it out and it WORKED! :) For anyone else who was wondering and didn't want to break something it's basically just two nuts and you turn the bigger round one counter clockwise I think to make it pull away from the brake pull and then you tighten the other smaller one clockwise until it sits right up against the lever. It makes your pull not be so deep. My Bike has over 700 miles on it so I'm sure the pads are worn down a bit.

How do u if u need to change the pads??
@TowerEBikes
@TowerEBikes 2 жыл бұрын
You'll know you need to change the pads visually by looking at the brake pads. Generally speaking one side of the brake pads will be way more worn down than the other. A good rule of thumb is to change your brake pads every 1000-2000 miles to ensure safety.

Is there a secret to adjusting the rear inner brake pad without removing the rear wheel or the brake assembly? The hub motor is in the way.

I asked Rad customer service & they sent me ($5 + $10 shipping) a special tool for this.
@TowerEBikes
@TowerEBikes 2 жыл бұрын
For this bike we were able to adjust it without a special tool, but you're right for some of their other models you can use a little tool they have to get in between the motor and the pads.

Ebikes definitely take a lot of strain on mechanical brakes. They simply go faster, further, and need stopping at faster speeds. Further reasons to not buy an ebike with mechanical brakes. All ebikes should have hydraulic brakes.

The man is clearly an expert but you’d have to stop start this vid a dozen times to get what he’s actually doing and why. Unfortunately and for some unknown reason KZbin doesn’t provide a 10 or 30 second rewind feature so backing this up is a pain. To be effective this needs to have some diagrams edited in. As it is it looks like he’s just tapping away with that Allen wrench. Rad should step up here. Brakes are important!
