How do I know when I need to make a valve adjustment? Not a mechanic by any means, but these bikes are so simple, I'm confident I can follow the steps in the video. Well done! And thank you for all of these great videos! Very helpful. ~ Gryffin #117.

The maintenance schedule is outlined in the owner's manual that comes with each Janus motorcycle. There are regular intervals where you should check your valves and adjust when necessary. And that's great! We love to hear stories of more people working on their bikes.

Valves normally have a little ticking noise especially when cold. But overtime valves seat on its place and wear happens. The space that needed to be between closes over time. When it gets too closed, bike wouldn't accelerate as fast as it used to before. Because valves don't fully shut down. Over time bike wouldn't start when it's cold outside. Because valve too tight, it couldn't push it down. If used this way valve may burn up because it can't touch it's place to cool down.

When do you need to adjust? Will the valves start clattering like my old 225 slant six?? Can't wait till I get my Halcyon 250.

Maybe no covers have come loose, but isn't there a torque spec for any of the bolts on your bikes? Should be in my humble opinion. Everyone has a different idea of what is snug, and it's often times too much, from what I've seen. :/

I see what you're saying but its backyard mechanic stuff. I think it's okay for the moment atleast to seal up the bike. We've all done something like that once.

Big John - I am doing valve adjustment for an Oct 2020 Halcyon and I cannot remove the valve cover without first disconnecting the wire box. It doesn't seem to be an issue for you in this video, but I cannot get the valve cover off otherwise. Can Janus please address this via an updated video? Thanks - Airborne Halcyon #506.

Slowly rotate flywheel until intake valve opens. Cover comes right off.

Looks like the motor is based on the old Honda CG125, those old motors were designed to be bomb proof.

KLR owner here. Feeling the same jealousy! No cams to lift? No shims to swap? No measurements to get wrong and have to wait for the correct replacement shims?

Try a VMAX, doing anything on that bike is like pulling teeth.

I really think you guys should try and find a different supplier for that engine from a different country like India or Taiwan because China is not something that really any company should be wanting to associate with right now
