Great video on a subject that is little covered. I like how you corrected your video later on and also made a note so as not to confuse your viewers. You also made several repetitions over the material so your students can effectively learn the material. Signs of a great teacher. Good job!

Good video with good information. Many people don't tell you exactly how to adjust your sights work. Especially for a person who is new to firearms. Without this info for a newbie they will get confused when adjusting their sights when they see they are further away from the target. Great job man.

Great video, and the information is all correct, however a simpler way of saying it which makes it easier to remember is, move in the direction that you are off. So if you are hitting too high, move the post up. if you are hitting too low, move the post down. Same with windage.. If you are hitting too far right, move the post right Always move the post in the direction that you are off.

@superbarnie10 жыл бұрын
Another way is to think of it as adjusting the sight to point where your shot hit. So if your shot hit high, then adjust your sight to point higher. If you shot hit to the right, then adjust your sight to the right, etc.
@be1nformed7 жыл бұрын
That's for adjusting a scope, not iron sights. Scope = make the crosshair point where the bullet hit. Iron sights = readjust the sights opposite to where the bullet hit.

A faster way to do that would be to vise the rifle so it doesn't move between shots, then walk the post tip to the bullet hole. Re-aim on the bull and fire again. Subsequent adjustments should be minimal. This also works for sighting in a scope. I used a Black & Decker WorkMate 200 and an old bath towel (so I wouldn't mar the wood) to sight in the scope on my Ruger 10/22. I spent 3 cartridges. This might work with the SKS if someone was standing on the WorkMate and holding the barrel down. Alternatively, get a "rifle sled" and take the shot, re-aim where the original shot was aimed and walk the sights to the bullet hole.

I think the Moisin Nagant MUST NEED to put the bayonet to shoot the gun because from the factory, they tested the gun that way and in the manual also say that. SKS may not need to but maybe I miss read something??? Thanks to tell us about this and Where did you buy that useful "tool" ?work for SKS/AK-47 too huh? NOT work with Moisin Nagant? One thing I have been told is prior to adjusting the front sight, you should liberally bath the sight in WD 40 or another type of penetrating oil and let it sit for at least a few hours. If you don't, you can break off your sight post which would be a major bummer! Stay away from Major Bummer. He will ruin your day! Okay, I just got an SKS and haven't adjusted the sight yet although it seems to be pretty close to be "on target" but only at about 100 ft so I will need to work on that. It was cool to squeeze off 4 clips with this rifle. Good video and thanks for showing us these important steps on sighting in this fine rifle.
@Deathless228810 жыл бұрын
Instead of braking the sight post I broke the sight tool! Which isn't nearly as bad, but still suck. Should I buy another "original" sight tool or get one of the fancier ones?

Its possible that your Front sight is not aligned to the top of the barrell.. (which would be odd.. but not unheard of) I would suggest taking it to a local gunsmith to have it check for perpendicular. I had this issue with a savage 22mag I bought a few yrs back where the dovetail wasnt aligned properly could be the same issue concidering the nature of AK construction.. Savage Company took care of me not a problem.

@roberharpane352410 жыл бұрын
Good information but it should be added when you're making sight adjustments, unless you're a perfect shooter, points of reference should be made first from short distances in the 25 yard range + in groups of at least 3 to 5 shots to maintain a more defined average of target acquisition accuracy. One shot only might lead you to go through all these steps unnecessarily with that first shot you took being off primarily due to shooting/shooter's error. Also remember, you are dealing with alignment planes so if you draw your rear & front sights out on paper with a straight line leading to your desired target, you'll find you're simply realigning your barrel left & right or up & down when using these principles this video is showing you. I'm a little dyslexic myself & we don't align our sights everyday for it to be fresh in our minds to how it's done. If you draw a visual picture in your mind of simply aligning a straight plane through simple adjustments utilized as reference points on your rifle sights,, the information will or should stay with you forever..
@zelndot10 жыл бұрын
You made very valid points to consider. I'm new to this myself so I need all the help I can get. Thanks for sharing this info.

@HunterXray11 жыл бұрын
In essence, if you could clamp your rifle to a bench where it would not move a millimeter after each shot, you could simply fire three shots, then move your sights to line up with where your bullets hit. Seems odd to think of it, but we aren't moving the point of impact, but only the sights, because the rifle will always shoot in the same spot, give or take some.
