Just had a used Nitron R1 serviced by these guys and fitted to my Hornet 600. Amazing improvement in comfort, handling and feedback over the stock Showa shock. Terrific product, great British company.

Really well explained suspension set up guide. I have a Nitron NTR1 with remote preload adjuster on my Tiger Sport and it's greatly improved the bike. Good stuff.

Well said. I'm a large guy and I always have to adjust suspensions, usually changing components to get it right. proper suspension setup makes a huge difference on a bike's handling characteristics.

I'm in love with the Nitron NTR 2 shock I have for my bike. The build quality is impressive to say the least, and the performance is top notch!

Nice Vid. Spoke to Dave at Fast Bikes Industry for a good while about what to do about my bikes bouncy harshness and decided to order a Nitron R2 for my Tuono 1100rr. Doing Andrianni piston kit up front. CAN NOT WAIT to get this on the bike! The good lads at Washington Cycle Works took the order for me and will do the install. Cheers.

You explained the we should increase the rebound and damping if we have lots of grip on the tarmac, should we reduce rebound and damping if we intend to go off road?

Nitron shocks are the best out there. yes you could spend $10,000 and get the equivalent for the big O but why? I've been running the Nitron triple adjustable for my Yamaha XSR900 for several months now and it's awesome. If you're into quality and performance this is a company to go with. Customer service was awesome as well.

When I had my Nitron shock installed by a suspension specialist they checked for the static and laden sag the same way, I was just in street clothes, didn't have all my gear on, I was perplexed because I knew I should weigh more with track boots, leather jacket, helmet, leather pants, my pack, but I figured he knew what he was doing, I guess I will have to set my shock up myself again fully dressed in riding gear.

I know this video is two and a half years old.... but that screen looks awesome, very Dakar like, high and vertical..... anyone know what make and model/height or any other info on that or a similar screen..... 👍

Question one : Imagine the loaded sag value not being correct and you adjust the rear preload to obtain a 1/3 measurement , will this automatically be the right solution if your static sag was not 10% ? ( since you only have one rear shock to adjust the preload on ) Or is this where your damping settings come into play ? ) Question 2 : you shortly mention the preload on the front fork , but if you add more weight to the back , does this mean you need to add or lower the front preload ? Thx for the video.

Dawn Moon one thing he didn't mention was spring rate...if you can't get the sag you are aiming for you may need a heavier or lighter spring. The spring is supporting the weight...damping (not "dampening") controls the oscillation or bouncing of the spring. He's not giving numbers away either...but if you want 30mm rider sag when solo but you find it increases to, say, 40mm with a pillion then increase the preload until you get 30mm with pillion on board. You get the right support and you maintain the geometry.

How do you find out out the rear wheel travel ? Without a shock in, measure fully extended? to fully bottomed out?

I have a stock 2016 zzr1400. As soon as I put my givi maxia box on the back I get handlebar wobble. Any suggestions on how to adjust the suspension yo stop this please?
@johngraham8052
@johngraham8052 2 жыл бұрын
Im no expert but i'd add more preload on the rear of the shock. You are getting wobble because the rear is down and the front is light. If you need to add so much preload you have no static sag you need a heavier spring.

Great video - always refer back to it. So ideal laden sag on my Africa twin is 73mm (220 x 0.33). I weigh 90kg and on factory preload I get 98mm sag. Even on max preload I get 89mm sag. So the spring is too soft. I’ll be dropping by soon!

Im looking at getting an Africa Twin... took a test ride on a 19 plate one at the weekend with the wifey.... awesome bike, loved it, and so did she.... but seemed very bouncy, obviously it comes with the stock remote preload adjuster, but as an owner, can you tell me if the standard rear shock comes with rebound and compression adjustment??? Thanks....

Coming from a Mountain-biking background where suspension setup is paramount, there were a few points missing here of key importance to those who don't know. Firstly, setup for the front forks wasn't covered. Secondly, it wasn't made clear that when setting laden sag, that that the rider must be wearing ALL their gear as if they were riding because of the additional weight it carries. Thirdly, No explanation as to the difference between slow and high speed compression and rebound in actual riding terms. Fourth, it wasn't pointed out how important your tyre pressures are set appropriately for single or pillion riding before setup. Fifth, the importance of correctly serviced suspension.

If you don't already know the points you raised, you shouldn't be fucking around with suspension, leave it to someone that does.

For the opening statement of what manufacturers are doing: For my Tracer 900GT that means that yamaha was thinking that most people riding this bike will be like 70 - 80 kg, 1.80m tall atleast and won't ride with the provided panniers or a passenger on s touring / sports touring bike 🤷‍♂️ And all that in europe and specifically Germany. Guees they guessed a bit wrong here.

Front? Spring rates? You aren’t giving everything away are ya? I appreciate the info, but when folks give away decent training, I usually buy something, so you really saved my wallet bud.

Dreadful company! They ignore your order and supply what they want. My bike shock came in all the wrong colours and when I challenged them I was told to accept what they gave me! A matter for court!
