That's one of the needle admissions that isn't for vaccination purposes, if so; I can't find any description of it other than feline sarcoma ( otherwise known as vaccine-associated fibrosarcoma ), which is some type of cancer that often forms between the shoulder blades. Wouldn't call it a shot, the only needle entrance they use as you specified is for giving sub-q fluids.

The worst thing that could happen if you vaccinate him is an allergic reaction to the adjuvants in the vaccine, but, in general, the benefits of the vaccine usually far outweigh the risk of harm. Plus, Feline Lukemia Virus is very contagious and almost always lethal.

I have to disagree with these methods because they have a lot of pain at the injection site and it affects their ability to walk and they tend to not want to eat. We give these vaccines subcutaneous by pulling the fold of skin behind and slightly below the shoulders. Your method leaves the cat not wanting to eat and lethargic because it's painful for them to walk.
@Chiafruity2 жыл бұрын
This method is recommended to be able to act in case of sarcoma at the injection site. I've never applied it personally, but it's what I was taught in vet school.

Question I have my kitten the 3 in one in her left hind leg. After watching this video you said the vaccine should go I her front right leg... Will this affect the vaccine?? Please help
@ladydriver0_03 жыл бұрын
Tina, it's fine. The injections are given in specific limbs to avoid giving multiple injections in the same site, to lessen the chance to develop vaccine induced sarcoma which can be fatal. Also, if an animal develops a sarcoma from a vaccine, they also know which vaccine caused it. Sarcoma is uncommon. About 1 in 10,000.

Where can I buy the feline lukemia vaccine? I just adopted my cat, and she's a year past due for it, but I can't find any less than 25 doses of it online. Is that a vet-only vaccine or something?
@whydoibother37415 жыл бұрын
As far as I know to avoid serious complication, or death, it is standard protocol for veterinarians to require a FeLV/FIV (Feline leukemia virus / feline immunodeficiency virus) negative blood test result before giving the vaccine. Hopefully she had the test and hopefully she finished the booster series already. Still, if “she’s a year past due...” and could have come in contact with the virus, don’t risk it! Contact the organization you adopted her from or see your vet.
@CherylBerryl4 жыл бұрын
Please! Don't give your cat the Leukemia vaccine. It's completely unnecessary. There are No Risks to Indoor cats whatsoever! If your letting your cat out to roam the streets, then you are NOT a good pet parent! There are way too many things that can happen to them! I'm a long time cat rescuer, and believe me when I tell you, I have seen alleged "nice" neighbors poison ppl's cats, take them & drive them somewhere & dump them off, hit them w/ baseball bats, kick them.. you name it! So PLEASE! Heed The Warning! & Keep your cats indoors & safe, and don't vaccinate unnecessarily! You're bombarding their immune system w/ Toxic Adjuvants & Excipients. The initial FVRCP Vaccination as a kitten is enough for life!
