How To Age Terracotta Pots / Update and Mistakes to Avoid

Do you want terracotta pots that look this old? We did this - using just one ingredient - yoghurt. We then planted them up with tulips. This is how they look today and in this video I will also let you know about the mistake we made so that you don’t do the same!
We used new frost-proof terracotta pots from our local independent garden centre. These are 40cm diameter (about 15inches) and about 35cm tall. We simply took an old paintbrush, and we painted the pots all over with yoghurt. We also gathered some scraps of moss from the garden and rubbed it over the pots to encourage the algae and moss to grow. We left them for about a month in a shaded spot in the garden.
We then planted 30 tulips in each pot at about 3 times the depth of the bulbs and then protected the bulbs from wildlife with chicken wire. The mix we used to fill the pots is two-thirds peat free compost to one-third grit. A much easier way is to add moss to buttermilk in a blender and spray on your pots. You’ll get more green and no black mold or brush marks.
