How to aim better / War Thunder

In War Thunder there isn’t as much fuss when you want to aim and shoot - even in RB or SB. If you prefer these two game modes, you are, most likely, already pretty good at guessing distances and using the markings in the main gun scope. That’s why we’ll focus on two useful features that fewer people are familiar with - the way you can change your range zeroing… and the Rangefinder.

You have to level up your crew's Rangefinder skill. Also, tanks without a ''Rangefinder'' module will only be able to spot up to 1.2km at max. When it does have the Rangefinder module you can go up to 2.2km or so

Your target was probably further away. I did the same thing took some shoots that feel short and them he moved and I saw he was actually 100 meters further than whatever surface My range finder was reading as he barley poked from behind some rocks and changed positions. On one map the depth perception is off. The more open desert map at range everything kinda looks the same distance. In some spots.

You know that this tank really existed ? It was proto tank to replace T-34-85 but it got cancelled.

Sort of but not quite. The T-43 was developed to replace the T-34, at this point both only had the 76. In order to keep T-34 production speed optimal they decided against producing it. A year later the T-34-85 is introduced and somebody somewhere remembers that they made a better version of the T-34 (the T-43) and decides to stick the 85 into that tank instead. Thus the T-44 was born.

HeadshotHunt3r, Currently the L7 cannon is quite inaccurate at long range in-game which makes for a quite a problem when you start seeing the larger maps that come with the tier which vehicles using the L7 are in (Centurion Mk 10, M60, Leopard I etc).

Most of the time it can't penetrate T54 front plates when fighting in normal distances. In close quarters it can but T54s usually are angled so nope.

The sight-adjustment is actually useful, gonna try it. will especially help with tanks that have long-range guns where the range-lines are so closely packed i often get confused which one i am currently aiming with

The settings shown at 1:25 don't actually work. My guess is that the option for "Mouse Wheel (tank)" is set to "Sight Distance Control" so you guys didn't realize it.

I wish they would add in more than the T-62's realistic sight to PS4, I love the idea of a realistic sight but I feel left out on this. I think an alternative would be to simply add either the most popular or the most prototypical sight to each vehicle.

With the number of available gunsights you NEED to have them set on a by tank basis in the customization menu, same as custom camo. For those of us that actually use several tanks of various types and calibers, having to go through the main options menu to change the sight would be an incredibly annoying thing to do when respawning, even more so if you're getting spawncamped like usual if losing, and thus have no useful sight for your gun until you change it out.

Just Droot okay so this is way easier with pictures but the basics are as follows Germans had the Zeiss Millidarian sights which had three triangles to the right a bigger triangle on the center and other three to the left, the small triangles are 1 mill wide the space between them is also 1 mill wide, the center triangle is two mills wide and the space between the top of the small triangle to the middle triangle is 2 mills a mill is how a 1m square looks like at 1km so for example you spot a T-34 the T-34 is 6.75 mt in length, it using the spacing of the triangles you measure it to be 4 mills wide so you do the following If you want the distance in meters then you put the target in mm divided by the mills measurement (6750mm/4mills=1687.5 mt) you adjust the sights for 1.68 km and fire center of mass and you should get a kill

After playing World of Warships for more than a year sights became nothing more than a magnifying glass for me. When I play War thunder RB I just look at the enemy tank, estimate the distance and then elevate my gun and fire. I always nail the distance right but sometimes my lead is a bit off. whenever I unlock a new type of shell for my vehicles I always try it out on practice to see how much drop value it has.

Range estimation I always have a better luck looking at the map than looking at the actual target. Until you have laser rangefinders I usually set a range equal to about one map square on my tanks gun as a battle sight so I can quickly shoot at targets I see without having to think about the elevation

In the tank control section, go to camera control, look for MOUSE WHEEL (TANK) by default its set to ZOOM AXIS (GROUND) click on that and choose SIGHT DISTANCE CONTROL.

All of their shots were at ranges of 800M or less, so the shell won't deviate so much And using APHE/APCBC shells on the side of a tank usually means insta-kill so that won't be hard either

since the rangefinders in tghe game only go up to 1200m (I belive, I am not sure about higher rank tanks) the german reticles with Strich are quite useful for rangefinding without trail and error it takes some calculation though and you need to know the tanks your are up against, especially their widths
