I'm 71yrs old and been shooting all my life. I have used every way and your way as well. works very well. However, i just love a quite bow so I use split finger but I try not to shoot over 20 yards eighter. Your small crawl is a good compromise for accuracy. Good video!

I’m new to the trad thing and it wasn’t til I watched a Push archery video where he did same thing. Brought my groups in from 20in groups to 6in groups instantly. 20yd point on for me so bottom of chest for 12-15yds and top of chest for 25-28yds. Ended up trying an elevated rest for giggles and groups went down to 4in. Great explanation and good video!!!

The big reason why I like a fixed crawl is I can get that arrow shaft right under my eye and I can aim using the arrow and not so much the point. For me it's almost like looking down the rail of a rifle and focusing on the front sight where you don't see the peripheral under the gun. When the arrow is farther under my eye I have more of the sight picture below the arrow that I like and it throws me off. I also find it easier to aim high than to aim low on something. I use to gap with a 48 yard gap but then I moved my anchor higher and when I draw now the fletching rests on top of my nose and I hook my thumb knuckle behind my jaw and when I release I pivot with my knuckle so it's really hard to short draw. My point on is at about 19-20 with my current 580 grain arrow setup. Shortening my point on has been a major help. My old point on at 20 yards on a Blacktail was in the dirt and it's really hard to make an effective shot when you are guessing in the dirt. Great video.

Been shooting my recurve for 15 years now and i still shoot instinctive....i guess. I never consciously look at the tip of my arrow but have been told that i probably do. I shoot 3 under and hold just about the exact same place you do and have been pretty successful doing so. Thanks for the video.

This is same reason I switched Without enough time to shoot all the time I felt like I had more bad days than good And I wanted something simple as far as an aiming system This is the simplest I have found but it took a little bit to get used to her 3 under as I have been shooting split fingers since I was a kid

Yeah, I have dabbled with string crawling. After being an instinctive archer for years. I have settled on a lighter poundage and super heavy arrow. I now shoot 3 under. My point on is only 30 now, used to be right at 60. Much more manageable. I still use more instinct if it is 20 or under. Any further I pay more attention to the point.

I am a beginner in archery with a longbow and have difficulties with aiming. The bow is 37.5#@29 and it is a tad too heavy for me Interesting that you have chosen a fixed point for three fingers regardless of the distance you shoot from, is that correctly understood?
@tsr_outdoors
@tsr_outdoors Жыл бұрын
That’s close But you still need to aim a different elevations on the target for different yardages In the video I explain that 5-20 yards I am aiming at bottom of target with the tip of arrow being my front sight 25 yards the tip of arrow is dead on what I am aiming at And for 30 yards I am aiming with the tip of the arrow at the top of the back I hope this helps

If you scout your spot and know where a few of the trees are around your stand, you can tell it a deer is in front of or beyond your 25 yard tree pretty easy.

I guess you didn’t watch the video So my point in is 25 For 5-20 ( due to the arc of the arrow being changed From walking down getting the nock of the arrow up closer to my eye ) I aim to the bottom of the chest and the arrow hits in the center of the chest slightly above where I am aiming with the arrow For 25 the point goes right in the center of what I am aiming at For 30 I place the arrow tip on the top edge of the back of the deer and the arrow hits lower than I am aiming dropping right into the center of the chest Anything farther than that I let go So I basically use 3 diff site pictures for 5-30 yards I hope that makes more sense for you Sorry for any confusion
