You are the Bob Ross of airbrushing, and I mean that as a 100% complement. Thank you for all your videos as I am new to the world of airbrushing and finding a mentor/role model is a challenge.

While I haven't painted in quite some time, I always wanted to dabble in air brushes. And having some 30 tanks's to paint you've quite happily convinced me on the intricacies and accurateness you can achieve through general practice. After watching several of your videos I'd like to say thank you for really clearing up some grey areas for me. I've always been too scared to try them but after your videos and some practice on my behalf i believe I could definitley fit them in my painting arsenal.

I've seen quite a few videos and your video has given me the most information starting with the air compressor, how to use air brush, dilute and how to clean it. Most videos only show painting techniques. Thanks, I've ordered an air brush and waiting for it in the mail. I do feel more confident with this bigger picture.

This is a very informative video . I'm starting out using a airbrush myself for some of my artwork . I didn't realise you could get a thinner for Acrylics , though I've bought some Acrylic paints specifically for my air brush , plus the air brush cleaning container is a very useful idea. I shall look out for one on line or next time I'm in an art shop. Many thanks for this inspirational video Jerry

Great video. I have been airbrushing my carved fish and I learned the hard way experimenting with various paint consistences, thinners and a couple brands of airbrushes,(Iwata and Paasche). One thing I learned that to keep your airbrush working reliably and frustration free..you have to keep it clean! Fish paints do add some additional challenges because some are iridescent or pearl essence and that takes a bit of practice to use these paints for best results.

Thanks for the video; it was really helpful for a beginner like me. One thing that I can't seem to figure out is identifying what type of thinner to use with different paints. I tried using a lacquer thinner (based on different forum posts, this was the most common) with a water-based model paint today and the paint precipitated into a gummy mess. Any advice?

I have watched *a lot* of airbrush videos on KZbin (buypainted, awesomepaintjob, etc), and I am keen to start airbrushing, and this video has provided information I was very much looking for. Also, nice to find someone making videos in the UK (midlands, I assume). Keep up the good work! I will be watching more of your videos in the near future.

Hi there You can't thin paint with washig up liquid my friend it would not work . you can thin acrylic paints with just regular water, but that is by no means the best way to do it as water can separate the paint pigments from the medium. I would always recommend using the correct acrylic thinner for your paints and airbrush cleaning fluid for your airbrush. Please check the description box of this video for information on those products :)

With a duel action airbrush like the one i use in the video ( Iwata custom micron cm-c plus ) I can change the line weight thick or thin on the fly. However for more viscous paints like varnish and primers I use a airbrush with a bigger needle nozzle set up.
@OrcPainterNerd11 жыл бұрын
Hi there. It all depends on the paint you buy, pre thinned airbrush paints can be bought that can be used straight out of your airbrush. Regular acrylic paints though need an acrylic thinner. You can use water but the results will not be as good as using a specifically made thinner for your chosen brand of paint. Happy airbrushing :)

A lacquer thinner will work superb for enamel based paints like humbrol enamels for example, but for acrylic they will not work at all. Use regular water if you must but would advise buying the correct thinner for your chosen brand of paint for best results.

And what is this airbrush you are using? It works miracles:)

No they do not, there is many type of airbrush. For example duel action, ( like the one i use in the video ) single action and many more sub category's besides. There is some fantastic airbrush videos out there that will help you decide what airbrush is best for your chosen type of application. That can be anything from nail art, body tanning, cake decorating, scale model painting and all the many other cool hobby's out there :)

Thanks so much OrcPainterNerd. I'm actually considering on investing in an airbrush for my fine art pieces and for my hobby, which is making anime costumes for anime conventions (in other words, I'm a cosplayer). Your videos make it much easier to understnad and also see the different results of different techniques. There's 1 quick question. If I accidently spray the airbrush paint on a table, can it be wiped off or is the table forever stained with the airbrush paint? Thanks so much for your time and airbrush tutorials^_^
