James, great video, especially it being your first run at it. Was better than a lot the I have seen on here. Thanks for taking the time to show how you do them and putting it out for all to see. Hope to see more from you.

I've seen a lot of different ways to do rivets, but this is by far the best video about them hands down. The sign shop dots are genius!
@idontcareonebit517710 жыл бұрын
looks really good. Couldnt you just hammer it with a punch though, for the same affect?

classic steam punk style, that's a very skilled job old fellow. impressed i am.

You are totally right! The only reason I got away with it was that the bike was clear coated, cured and sanded between each step so there was no paint to peal off. Though it is a good habit to get into and I certainly should be sure to do it right in future videos. Awesome tip. Thanks

Man, that is absolutely fantastic, I've never seen it done so well. I'm a newbie but I can't wait to try this technique. I think I'll do up my mailbox like that. Thanks so much for teaching the technique.

what was the final coat? Was it a transparent silver? Or did you polish the metal???

In your printed script you mention using "Bulldog" to prevent the stencils from pulling up artwork. As in Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, before your base coat of paint? THANKS! GREAT Rivets and technique!

what brand and color paint is that your you putting the riviets on?
@rodstohogs11 жыл бұрын
Used house of kolor chrome paint. Way easier then Alsa chrome but tricky to learn at first. I should do a how to on that as it was quite a bit of trial and error.

Any sign shop can print up non weeded rivets to any size you want. fast sings, signs now, I used a local shop called larson signs.. .If they do vinyl lettering then they can cut rivets.

One of the nicest rivet jobs I have seen but....when placing highlights make sure the vertical and horzontal rivets have the same highlight orientations. The light source does not change. Just my two cents. Looks very good otherwise.

It was a black bike but the house of Kolor chrome paint can go over any color though black seems to be the best for any mirror finish... This chrome had a few tricks to learn but much easier with fewer steps then other chrome paints. One trick is adhesion! This stuff does not stick! First time It came off in sheets with clear coat on it. I ended up putting bulldog adhesion promoter in an airbrush and misting the entire bike first. This was the key. Do not spray directly out of can. only airbrush

The bombs I made from those tubes inside toilet paper with a pingpong ball on the top, then hot glue fins on it and fiberglass resin and mat over the entire thing to make it strong and stable. Also some body filler with a dremil for carving. Sandpaper and primer. Im a body guy by trade so the bondo shaping comes easy to me.

Havnt been on KZbin much and didnt realize people were asking questions. The final coat was just clear coat over the top of all the Art work.. The bike was originally black and I polished it and cleaned with alcohol. Then sprayed with clear Bulldog adhesion promoter through an airbrush and not the spray can..(Finer mist needed to keep gloss) Then I sprayed House of Kolor chrome paint through an airbrush. Then cleared the entire bike. Then I sanded the clear and started the art work
