In todays video I talk about aligning drift car! We're not going to go into details on how to setup a chassis completely, but in this video we will explain how to set up camber, caster, and toe in the front and back of a drift car and what it does. Enjoy and make sure you check out my other how to videos to get the whole setup. This one is easy to just listen to as well, like a podcast.
If you’d like some info on the custom shock setups that I build, shoot an email to orderdriftparts at gmail.
AAAAND I just realized It didn’t include the caster part of the conversation… So we’re going to have to add this back into it.
AAAAND we uploaded a new video! SO THIS IS IS CORRECT NOW.

This is what makes Chelsea one of this greatest influences in drifting. Helping people get past the learning curve makes drifting enjoyable instead of fighting the car constantly and being miserable and giving up.

"Don't get beat down by your poorly setup car" Thanks for the tips man. Well explained for on the fly explanation. The hands demonstrating angles helps a lot. I'll be using a purpose built string alignment kit since its my first time aligning the car after some changes. I will be looking for tow plates now as well.

Great information. Watching the amount of speed you carry through the banks at most tracks I was trying to understand how the left foot braking would hold you up further up the bank. When I would do this in my car it would shoot me closer to the apex. Now I finally understand the importance of the toe out as I run 3degree tow in on the front of my FD RX7. Looking forward to trying this at our next even.

Amazing information. Back when I was drifting, no-one considered Ackermann. We had to control wash out with what we had. I've recently sat with a current local pro driver and at times I thought he would wash out, he drove right out of the corner with angle and I was blown away. Drifting has really come a long way.

This was awesome! I learnt something with ideal values for Ackerman and caster and I'm keen to have a play with my 2 knuckle setups. Something you didn't touch on was setting up the rear for a live axle car, my Aussie Ford Falcon is a parallel 4 link with a watts, and I was hoping to learn about how where you want roll centres for drifting (front and rear) and the ideal amounts to roll the diff angle for grip. Thanks for the video 😊

Great video, thank you for the upload. I have a long term project 89 240sx and only recently just understood the benefits of drip knuckles with caster with an offset trail. Original used chopped knuckles with a coil over drop. Excited to watch more great info and shenanigans. I am half way through a video of yours explaining how drift judging are assessed. Really neat stuff. Cheers!

This is why he's so good at drifting, he understand suspension dynamics and implements it in his driving style and adapts it to the track. It's not just all driver "skill" also mechanic know how. Chelsea this isn't complicated, people that are not the "masses" appreciate these in depth topics. I've been working, driving, and setting up my own cars for over 16 years now. And there is always more to learn from people dedicated to their sport and niche. For example that 0 camber at 60% angle tip is just what I needed to learn, and to confirm my thoughts on suspension angle and how the car reacts during drift. My alignment feels spot on but will check for 0 camber at 60%

This was explained so well. I know it may not be a real car but on my sim I have been struggling and struggling trying to figure out why the car is so snappy and what to change. Having changed almost everything maybe forwards and backwards steps, I feel confident at this point that it could be caster because the car has almost 10 degrees of caster and the wheel just blasts through my hands and slams lock. Also the detail of dialing the camber at about 60-80 percent of lock is actually big brain stuff. Thank you so much for this. Also sorry for late like and view but thank you.

This is probably one of the best videos and explanations I have watched about how alignmet effects how the car steer. I have been fighting where my car will want to snap to full lock when I am driving agressivly behind a car on faster tracks (like Texas Motor Speedway) and wanting to spin on fast transitions. Now I have a basic understanding on caster and akerman when before I was pretty much just guessing and driving around an issue.
