There used to be a key command, Command/forward slash on Mac that would align the second line in a bulleted list automatically. It seems to have gone away. Any ideas what that is now?
@GDHT2 ай бұрын
You're right - that seems to no longer exist in newer versions. InDesign does not currently have a default shortcut to align the second line of bulleted lists (create a hanging indent), and you'd need to use the Paragraph panel to manually set the indent. Unfortunately, Adobe doesn't currently offer a way to assign a shortcut to that either...ugh!!
@stephenbstarrdesigninc2 ай бұрын

hey i have serious problem with numbers and bullets. i am a teacher and i want to make a test with it like below . which country is the biggest? 1)usa 2)canada 3)Russia 4)china i want to create style that adds number plus ) to the word for text.
@GDHT4 жыл бұрын
For something like that, I would just type the number plus ). And then use a character style to make it bold. You could also set up tabs so your 4 options would be in the same place every time.

what can I do if doesnt delete the bullets that are on the gap?
@GDHT4 жыл бұрын
Christiana Mitropoulou if there are bullets that have been typed in, you’ll need to delete them. You can just do a find and replace.
@christianamitropoulou4544 жыл бұрын
Graphic Design How To hi thank you very much for your answer! The thing is it doesnt let me to delete them. If I have spacing between my text it adds the bullets there as well. When I try to delete the bullet it just deletes tha space. If I press enter to create space again it creates the bullet too 🤷♀️ So I am lost. Not sure that I understood this find and replace thing.
@GDHT4 жыл бұрын
Christiana Mitropoulou oh ok I understand now. Try hitting Shift Enter or Shift Return and see if that helps.

So funny how counter intuitive every aspect of paragraph styles/ bullet formatting is hahah. Just the fact paragraph styles exists throws people off, the fact you can only achieve a bullet list through a PS more so - first time users will look at the massive variety of text formatting options and wonder where the bullet point is - and then finally to have your bullet list PS just look like the standard way a bullet list is aligned you need to know to enter a negative value that is syned to a positive value (neither of which are associated with the variable called "alignment"). Bravo Adobe.
@GDHT Жыл бұрын
It's not too bad once you get used to it. But yes, it could stand to be more intuitive!
@freemangrist Жыл бұрын
@@GDHT I really think Adobe needs to just allow bullet formatting to be done via the properties window just like font style changes. I understand beyond the customizations available in this window (font, format, colour, size etc.) people will want to further customize bullets but let some basic customization tools be available to less experienced users who don't want to sort through the dazzlingly complex paragraph styles tool. Further, bullets should default to the same default they do in every word processor on the market - aligned-under-bullet. It's needlessly opaqe.

I love your vid but...Paste what, and "do a find" I dunno how to do that lol
@GDHT4 жыл бұрын
Yes it goes a bit fast right there! Basically you'll highlight the bullet area and copy, then do a Find and Replace (CMD F or CTRL F), and then paste into the Find section. Copy = CMD C or CTRL C, Paste = CMD V or CTRL V. These older videos move a bit too quickly in my opinion, but you can always go back to what you missed or replay at 1/2 speed. :)
