For the lightbulb to appear you have to go to a random box (ya know the thing to animate and move stuff) right click the box and go keyframes and click right something I forgot and you will see a lightbulb

The only video that showed my wife how to QUICKLY get started with timeline layers and using Onion Skin views of Keyframes ! (without diving into complexities of the other parts of the program) and we spent hours watching others, even kdsketch's that didn't easily explain this as well as you did !

Well, I know I'm very late. That's because I started with digital art last week. I got into it really well and now I want to animate a bit. Your tutorials really helps me out! But I don't know how I can get the other (the last) frames transparend when I am drawing another frame, because I don't get this whole light bulb thing... I don't know how to explain this in a good way, but I hope you can understand what I mean. My english is not the best, because I'm german and was never really into english😅.

After watching many of these recently, you kind of just showed us your own quick project instead of telling people what does what and such, still tho nice showing how you can use previous frames and reuse them

This is why I don't usually like making 'artistic' videos. Tutorials where I can't teach you HOW to do something... but rather how I do it. I can't tell you how to be creative, or how to draw, or what your style is... that all just comes with practice. But I CAN tell you MY process, and a few tips along the way - to make things a bit easier for you :)

I am finally going to try Krita after almost a year of waiting...I actually came to Krita after reading blog posts about photo editing and graphic design. And found myself very interesting because of the graphics and animation tools together in a single software. I am not able to get photoshop for vector and animation both in one place. Here Krita allows me to do so...Well, your video is the second animation on Krita video so it is very helpful to me...because new users really needs some very easy tutorial ...thanks for this video.

Hello, I'm super late but I just got Krita and I've got a bit of a problem and I was hoping someone here could help me? Whenever I play back the frames I've drawn it won't show the key frame its on, rather the frame drawn before it. It's a little hard to explain lol but basically if I drew 4 frames going |, /, -, and \ it'll hold the | frame past the / keyframe until it reaches the - frame, at which point the / frame would be shown. Then the - frame won't show up until the \ frame and the \ frame won't be shown at all. Is there any way to fix this issue?

My onion skins don't work at all.... my file has 2 layers, the default background layer and layer one... when I turn on my onion skins function it doesn't show anything, however, when I go all the way back to frame 0 on my timeline the whole artboard goes bright green.. Do you how I can fix this? (I'm using a mac)

You have to turn on onion skinning (near the play and pause buttons) also, if you've imported the audio, then it should be playing... unless you got an error message.

Hey I know I'm late and you didn't cover audio in your tutorial, but I was wondering if you have used audio, and if so whether it glitches because mine constantly glitches but when exported it sounds fine. I'm not sure if this is only happening to my krita as I haven't heard many people talking about it, but its just annoying and buggy while trying to animate. Not sure if this only happens to me or not, or whether you have any fixes for it?

Yeah, I've made many animations that are dubbed with my voice acting. Audio use to pain me, especially since I use Debian. I was downloading the Flatpak - but the audio doesn't work in that version... so I had to download it through Synaptic. For Windows, I'm not sure of a fix. BUT - you could try to rollback to a previous legacy version (on their website) and see if that work :) Good luck!

I do believe so... but can't remember. Down at the bottom left - there should be some buttons that say something about Auto Frame or something similar. It use to be near that button.. but I can't fully remember. It is quite annoying :D

Sounds like your gui defaults are just messed up, at the top right of the program, you should see a little box - if you hit that, you can change your default setup! If that doesn't work... try heading to 'Window' and then to Dockers. I think that'll help out! (I'm not at my computer to double check right now 😄)

I just got the app and this has helped me a lot! I used medibang previouslty, so I'm still kind of used to those settings and shortcuts. I have a couple questions I was hoping you could answer: 1. is there a way to make it so if i press harder the brush stroke size changes? 2. whats the shortcut for changing brush size? i searched it up and they said hold shift and drag, but it didnt work for me 3. do i have to create a new frame every time, or is there a setting to automatically add frames? If you could answer I would be very grateful ^^

Is there a tool that lets you zoom the scene in from frame to frame? I tried doing it manually but it only ends up wobbly. Also, how do animators draw on the computer? Do you draw on a monitor or??

I actually don't believe that there is. The best way you an do it, is to scale it up, create a duplicate frame, scale that one up and so on and so on :) OR, the ABSOLUTE BEST WAY, is to render the portion you want to scale, take it into your video editor and zoom it like that :) That's what I do when I can't get the manual zoom right.

i agree it looks pretty f'in awesome compared to me having to do each frame in artrage then port to animate then again to after effects to compose. this would be a lot simpler. I've got it running but I don't have the timeline bar at the bottom I can import frames but I still cant see the timeline nor find the option. am i missing something? I selected animation under new animation template and that still doesn't bring it up.

I love Krita. It's amazing :D Very powerful program that was DEFINITELY needed - especially in the Linux community! Up in Settings, go to Dockers and then check Timeline! :)

I'm wondering how krita compares to opentoonz for animation? I prefer krita's drawing tools...but I'm not sure how it compares as far as what's available for animating...like cameras and multiple levels and such?

I've tried OpenToonz many times before, and just couldn't get into it in the past. Something about the sensitivity or the audio? Can't remember exactly... but I thought it's workflow wasn't too great. One of the better ones... but I just couldn't get into it. ok so the light bulb didn't show up for me but later i found out that u can just right click the timeline and click keyframe and then click insert keyframe left or right if u want but i click insert keyframe left

Yup! You could right click it to add the keyframe, or there's a button you could hit, down in the animation timeline to add a keyframe!
