Dear everyone, I have already installed the Simmechanics for Matlab 2016a, 64 bit. I also registered the server and activate the link between SolidWorks and the Matlab. However, after enabling the Simmechanics link in Solidworks but the Simmechanics add-in did not appear, I reinstall the SolidWorks 2016,64 bit and install SolidWorks 2013 64 bit, the problem can not be solved, I am using windows 10 64 bit I installed the Solidworks without choosing PDM package. Could you give me some suggestion to solve this problem? Thank you so much!

FOR SURE!!! your video was definitely one of those that gave me a great vision about how systems and controllers work!! I would really like to thank you and say that I do appreciate your effort for helping people understand! Now I have designed many systems using solidworks to later study their behavior later on using simechanics. BUT the probem is that they all go INSTABLE on simechanics so no controller can be applied on them! Now I would really like to ask for help to introduce to me any system you have already designed that is ALREADY stable on sumechanics. because I just want to study the behavior of a system that is (for a range of numbers to the controller variables) STABLE! Help please! Thank you SO MUCHHHHHHHHHHH in advance.

...maybe the reason is the wrong use of positive feedback from the join sensor instead of negative feedback....but it may be that your PID parameters must be tuned.....try to use the Relay experimental method i.e. replacing the PID controller with a Bang-Bang controller (a comparator with two states ON and OFF), then meassuring the amplitude of the oscillations and its period, calculating the critical gain...and picking up the PID parameters according the modified Ziegler-Nichols table ....if that seems too complicated then tune the PID parameters by trial an error....start with just P (I=0, D=0)....then PI ....most of the time D is 0 or very small in comparison....[all that after you make sure the feedback is negative!!]

+Wili Kumara He says that you should have a negative feedback and yours is a positive feedback system. Your sum block should be +- as oppose to ++

Yes, Leonardo is right, conceptually the feedback must be negative, not positive....but as the system does not become unstable there must be a sign inversion "somewhere" in those blocks, probably in the join sensor block....

For those of you using the newer versions of MATLAB/SOlidWorks, to export you need to go to Tools menu in SolidWorks and fins the Simscape Multibody Link there (third one from top). the method explained in this video from save as does not exist anymore!

this video is so outdated! if you export as second generation then you need to use the command smimport instead of mech_inport otherwise you get tons of error as explained in this page: nl.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/52915-how-to-solve-the-mech_import-error-for-simmechanics

Pratham Singh I'm sorry for the slow respon. I dont know much about the uses of MATLAB in solidwork. I just learning how to animated the model. From this video, you can move your model like our model.

By adding a parallel Matlab-Simulink-SimMechanics model you can give "a soul" to your "static" piece of hardware (mechanical design)....your machine can then not only be animated automatically but in doing so it can follow the physical and logical principle of the machine very near to its actual environment.....so you can add logical moves that corresponds to the actual process under control from which your machine is part of....additionally if you have the right modeling of masses, speeds, accelerations, etc. you can "meassure" i.e. verify them in the SImulink model e.g. if you need to check if the maximun and rated torque of some of the motors are within expected limits you just add an scope in Simulink on the corresponding signal and graphically trace kit over time...etc.....extremely powerful!

Motion studies via solidworks can not only animate mechanical systems but also simulate the *basic physics of the components. MatLab and it extensions like simulink and simscape come to play is that it gives the ability to control the mechanical system. For example, one could make a segway in solidworks, apply a load, analyze via FEA, run CFD for aerodynamics, add rotation to the wheels and make a cool video. Thats all cool. However with Matlab (simulink), you can also control and model the system with real world consideration solidworks isn't meant to handle. Such as modulus of elasticity in the wheels (acting like a spring), friction on wheels (acting like a damper), back emf from the motors, applied moments outside small angle approximations, load with moving centers of gravity, operating on some terrain with a topology given as a function (typically sinusoidal in simulations). These are things mechanical engineers should be learning in linear controls, mechatronics type courses.
