It would be fantastic if you made a video answering this question as an entry-level job seeker, not a manager, like in this video

@NividaManicks Жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to comment. The "Tell me about yourself" question can be interpreted in various ways, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Some interviewers are looking for a broader overview of your background, while others are interested in specific skills and achievements. The method I presented aims to strike a balance between sharing relevant information and showcasing your ability to meet the needs of the role. That said, it's important to adapt your response based on the context of the interview and the preferences of the interviewer. If you've had success with other approaches in the past, that's fantastic! The key is to effectively communicate your strengths and make a positive impression.

Great question, and it's definitely a concern that resonates with many job seekers right now. If your previous role lacked relevant project experience, or you're switching to a new industry, this is precisely where the power of personal projects comes into play. Let's say, for instance, you're a developer switching into marketing. You could kickstart your content creation career by crafting content on a topic you know about, or better yet, the industry you're looking to get into. Crafting a newsletter or blog could be your avenue for mastering email marketing and gaining valuable insights in return. On the flip side, if you're a non-technical individual looking to switch into coding, building your own app showcases your adaptable skills, initiative, and capacity for learning. You can also take courses and certifications on budget-friendly platforms like Udemy or Coursera. Hope this helps!

Remember, they dont know what you did at your jobs only you know, so practice a story. At the end of the day, as a few hiring managers told me, they called me to interview mainly to see my personality and communication skill, my resume already told them I match the job description but am I someone they can work with, communicate well in explaining things. Interviews is really to see how you communicate and if your personality fits their culture, plus seeing if you really did all the things you said you did on your resume by being able to provide examples.

1 min response. Personally I start broadly and narrow into why i'm interested in the role. x years of experience in with a X degrees and Y certifications. Recently worked at A, B, C. My recent roles align exactly to this role I'm applying for specifically because.... Also mention that you feel an alignment to the culture and that you're excited to explore a mutual partnership. (and yes they have your resume and all that high level stuff is probably already in your summary but some of these hiring managers have interviewed so many people already that it's good to have that high level opener)

I dont think this is the way to go about. its Tell me about yourself not your latest achievemnet. Who are you as a person, how do you fit for the role and the company, what skills can you bring and also how are you as a person outside your work. You dont straight go to your last job achievement at the start of the interview. Like you said it sets the tone of the interview, introducing yourself as a person is what matters at this stage not your achievement (you might add this during your intro but dont just give this as intro and stop), as an interviewer I would not have a clue about what type of individual you are with just this answer.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. When starting an interview, I wouldn't immediately delve into my latest achievement. Instead, I'd begin with a quick high-level overview of my career. For instance, "I started my career in Program Management and transitioned over the past 5 years into Product Management, predominantly in the B2B realm. My most recent role was at 'company name,' where I held responsibilities such as [mention the responsibilities]. I would then discuss the challenges I faced, how I functioned both independently and within a team, and the ways in which this role contributed to my personal and employers growth." This approach highlights personality, skills, and provides the hiring manager with insights into how a job seeker would potentially fit within the team culture. I understand why some may perceive this as focusing solely on recent achievements rather than providing a well-rounded self-introduction. However, it's important to consider the intensely competitive job market we're in. Based on my professional experience, I've found that this method has worked best not only for me but also for fellow candidates and colleagues. In my opinion, emphasizing the professional side when responding to this question is advisable. You can always add a personal touch afterwards by mentioning hobbies or interests outside of work, such as reading or hiking. Hope this helps and happy to answer any other questions you may have 😊

Thanks for taking the time to comment. The 'Tell me about yourself' question can certainly be interpreted in various ways. The intention behind the approach I suggested is to create a more impactful and memorable response that aligns with the specific job you're applying for. By highlighting a key strength and providing concrete examples of how it has benefited your previous employer, you're able to showcase your value and relevance right from the start. This method can help you stand out and demonstrate a strong fit for the role. Of course, every interview situation is unique, and it's important to adapt your response to the context and the company culture. If you've been successful with your previous approach of discussing personality traits and interests, that's great! Include words like enjoyed. “I enjoyed growing our email list.” Humanize your vocabulary. Show you have passion for the job without using the word passion.

Yeah honestly this was informative but you tried to push everything into a short so I feel every description was super quick

Ah im sorry - that's what happens when doing a 60 second short. I created a new video on this question - here's the link: kzbin.infon7QswjweMtY

Thank you it was very helpful, but couldn’t you just memorise these few words without looking at the white board behind the camera? Wow
@NividaManicks Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! When recording videos, we sometimes make mistakes, so having a structure to follow can be really helpful. Additionally, I recommend writing out your answers and practicing them beforehand so that when you're asked the question in an interview, it comes more naturally to you. It's great way to help build your confidence and ensure that you're able to articulate your thoughts clearly. Thanks again for watching and for your feedback!

This wasnt really telling them about yourself. She basically told them how she started her career then went straight into a task she performed then have results. Not really a clear answer about yourself however.

Your goal is 50% 1st Q I did 20% 25k to 40k. Is it a nervous answer where the math was flubbed or did you just leak a fake story answer or state you didn't even meet your goal 😂
