How To: Apollo Air + City 2022 Folding Mechanism Adjustment

So purchased my scooter in 2023 and mine just started doing this, great video. The newer models do not seem to have the philips screw anymore, to adjusting screw is flush with the top, so that's nice. Just had to loosen the grub screw and crank it a little and now it's almost too tight (good thing i know how to adjust it now)! Thanks!

I discovered stem wobble after my first few miles and like you my version does not have a Philip's screw. Can you please confirm what you did, other than fiddle with the grub screw. My screw must have locktite because I can't loosen it with an allen key (may need a heat gun which I don't have)... my latch closes too easily -- the only time I used it was once previously to check the scooter. It seemed properly tight then..

@@fergusobrien7963 Maybe check to see the that 2.5mm grub screw on the side is not stripped? It needs to be loosened before you can turn the bar to make an adjustment, then i needs to be locked back in place after to hold it's position.

@@DrewDvorak It was not stripped -- it was sealed -- had a video call and got it sorted with a replacement but there are complications that I am working on with Apollo -- no one said anything about a fully updated 2023 version -- I bought the one with the handle bar update only 2 weeks ago so now I'm trying to get the fully updated one, particularly because they fixed the folding mechanism... I don't want any problems down the road. Just wish Apollo had been more transparent about the availability of a full update when I purchased or did the return exchange. I would rather wait until the end of July for the pre-installed fully updated version etc. Thx!

Thanks for that, my city 2022 stem has developed a bit of wobble and I strongly suspected it was from the latch. This should fix it

Having to make an adjustment already? 😩 It's a scooter that has less than one month on the road and already causing issues. Smh...im starting to regret my purchase and I haven't even received mine yet.

Great tutorial, my City Pro stem was tight as so now I know how to loosen a tad for easier securing of the latch.

I got an issue that isn’t the actual folding mechanism, I ran over a pot hole here that actually seems to have loosened the scooter neck itself.

This video would be helpful if I could ride my new Apollo City Pro 2022 but sadly the charger broke 4 days ago and customer service refuses to get back to me even though I’ve gone through all of the proper channels to get a response back.

Can you advise the length/diameter of the screw used? Or specs to order a replacement screw, my screw completely snapped in half so the locking mechanism is useless currently. I've been trying to get in touch with support but I can't seem to get help from anyone.

Bummer. Their chat seems to work pretty well -- had a problem myself at the beginning of July '23. The full update (due at the end of July) has addressed the folding mechanism issue. I think you have some ammunition there. Don't give up..

If I use red Loctite on the screw, my option to readjust the folding mechanism in the future is kinda lost, right? According to Loctite, it will take a few minutes of heating up before the screw can be turned again. Please advise.

Yes, loctote will permanently secure things in place. It’s not meant for screws that will need to be continually removed.

@@ApolloScooters I received my City Pro and i tried adjusting my stem, but somehow theres already red loctite on my screw. Did you guys give me a refurbished City Pro? And why would my “new” city pro already have red loctite on it?

@@jbombita sorry to hear. can't get mine loose either... after 10 mile of use (only used the latch once to check the scooter) the pin inside has rust and scratches on it and Im getting some stem wobble. Am going to contact them and I will update you with an answer from my end. Super surprised that they put this video out but haven't responded to your legit concern...

Day 4 of my trying to get the attention of ANYONE on your Customer support team. My charger won’t turn on. I’ve tried every outlet in my house and the green light won’t come on anymore. Ive had my scooter less than a week and I’ve only driven the thing three times so this would have only been the fourth time me using the charger. Not only that but my battery on the scooter has lost 7% charge leaving it at 43% battery. I would not have driven the scooter had I known the charger was broken. In the manual they state leaving the battery at low percentages ruins the battery over time which is NOT covered by the warranty. Every day they wait to get back to me is another day that my battery is slowly being killed. They are literally ruining my scooters battery and I just got the thing.

Can somebody please help me with my Apollo city pro 2022? For some reason, the stem/shaft/ steering tube was loose.. meaning, The handlebars are loose with the front wheel. The front wheel can turn on its own while you’re holding the handlebars straight which is very dangerous. I took it to a bike shop and we tried to tighten down the locking nut and stem pinch bolts but we can’t get them tight enough to keep the handlebars from slipping left or right. Please let me know what I can do to try to get those tighter as it’s too loose to ride. Could be dangerous if I hit a bump in the front wheel turns to the left while I’m holding the handle bar straight. Anybody with any information would be greatly appreciated. I’m hoping there’s a quick fix. Please help. Thank you in advance
