wonderful. I always take everything I learn and mix it all together. Began BJJ in early 2000's and began Aikido a few years later. Wonderful to see others combining to create better skills for themselves as well.

There is a really beautiful interaction between the arts. Have you ever looked into Roy Dean? he comes from a very different aikido background than I do but he is another guy who is talking about this kind of hybrid work.

@@jamielovesmartialarts I looked at my history and I had watched one of his videos he released about 8 mo. ago, but did not do enough additional watching to find an Aikido connection, thanks I will do more to watch not only his but your channel as well. I began Aikido around 2003 or so with Keijutskukai, my instructor trained with Thomas Makiyama. We trained a very hard and practical Aikido, more like Aikijitsu than the fluffy Aikido. Then I got my hands on it and I began to add my Kali, BJJ and all around mma to it, which is how I teach it now.

I tried it during the rolls my opponent was actually heavier than me. It actually works although I struggle to make some adjustments on controls.

Yes takes some practice but was really working quite nice for me.

The classic pin has the inside knee in the floating rib, the arm at full extension ie as far above the shoulder as it will go, the elbow is slightly rotated such that the inside of the elbow makes full contact with the ground, pressure can be applied by lifting the arm with outside hand (with care! this will damage the joint) the outside knee is inside the hand and assists in preventing any movement in the elbow.

Yes, that is right. that is how the classic version of this pin is performed. if the scapula is immobilized well the classic version is quite effective as well.

My friend said aikido is more defensive is that true
@jamielovesmartialarts2 жыл бұрын
Aikido manipulates the commintment of the attacker to their attack so in a sense yes it is defensive.
