Used your video to relieve some of my stress for doing my frist grout, which was an epoxy grout. I was really nervous cause the guys at the shop said it was really hard. There was a plan A and a plan B and so much prep and hard work, even had a partner to hand me things like a physician. Then I began. Added the grout and then BAM. All plans out the window and worked faster than I ever have. This stuff doesn't want to spread and really doesn't come of with the sponge very easily. In the end though, success! With how easy you made this look, I know you are a pro!

Hi Jeff, I have a fine sandstone shower floor (porous initially but well sealed now) I want to use epoxy /kerapoxy for endurance and water proofing but the surface is naturally split / riven. How do I ensure I can get the grout off the tiles afterwards? It was hard enough getting keracolour off riven slate tiles. It looks easy on a polished surface but textured.. something a whole lot more daunting!

I’m going to use this on a pebble stone tile entry way with slate for the rest of the floor. I have wooden floors but I’ll be giving the wood a drink before I put my ditra down. Not too much deflection- like your old house I have 2x4 planks running diagonal across the joists. My floor is stiffer than rot gut whisky. Any tips other tips on sealers or anything else I can do to make this job go well?

Per usual: great tips and instructions. Question: how do you patch a hole in a ceiling that was popcorn-ized? I’d like to remove light from a bathroom. Cut a plug the same size, plug it from the attic, tape mud it down from the attic side, apply 90’s ‘ texture ‘, shake head at all the popcorned surfaces in my house?

Hi Jeff, I have enjoyed all of your videos and straight forward approach to doing the home improvement work yourself. Your channel helped me get through 2020 as Ibecame interested in comparing your experiences and tweaks compared to my experiences I've gained being a GC in CA. I'm the last Contractor in a 75 year family business with zero complaints on our work my family has done in the commercial and residential business. One question on this epoxy tweak of yours that I never knew about till now is, does it work with pebble floors in showers with their narrow to super wide grouted areas? 2nd question, do you advise using your hand as per the video to lightly smear the liquid soap or would using a sponge, towel or other device be better to use to evenly lightly spread the liquid soap? My concern is lessening the chance of the liquid soap weeping into the grout lines, but maybe this concern is misplaced after reading your replies to previous posts. Please let me know. Thank you again, or as they say in Canada,"cheers."

Jeff I've tried epoxy grout before, that was about nine years ago and it was a nightmare. The grout started drying way too fast and it was hard to clean. The bucket you mixed there, about how much working time do you get before it becomes to sticky to spread? Thank you in advance.

So the hardened epoxy stops tiles flexing where glue has come loose underneath? Have similar movement around vanity and an external door. I've fixed the leaking in both spots but tiles a bit loose.

Hey Jeff, i used the Mapei Cq epoxy for a shower , and while I was working with it I had an emergency didn't wipe off the grout and have some grout and haze on the tiles. So I've been renovating my bathroom. And your videos have been INVALUABLE, so thanks for that first. Now the question: I didn't know the difference between sanded and unsanded grout until right now. So I've used an UNsanded grout on my floor now. The gaps are small 1/8th inch and i've installed it on cement board that's screwed and mortared to the subfloor so it should be stable... i think. IS there a risk that the grout will crack in the short term?

That all depends on the tile size the product you used to install the temp and how clean it was and if you used water before installing the tile and what kind of deflection you will get. In short maybe. If it does grab some epoxy and it will be a thing of the past. Cheers!

That will work but it will look different if the wall is not epoxy right now. best to match it if they used unsanded or regrout the whole shower. !

Hi Jeff, Would like to get your recommendation about a leaky balcony. Balcony is above a room. After I had the old tiles removed and added new Prismo grout. There is a leak in the ceiling. 100% want to avoid removing the tiles in order to replace the membrance under the tiles. Is there any product such as two part clear epoxy that I can have applied to the tiles, new grout... The re-grouting is done with good workmanship and covers all the ages. I know applying sealer is not the solution. May be adding the grout in the video - if we could get it in clear oe brown. Please let me know your recommendation. Thank you.

I just installed porcelain tiles in a shower area and used Ardex EG8 Plus epoxy grout and it was a nightmare. It started to cure within about ten minutes and getting the whole job done was a nightmare. Consequently I missed about 5 small spots and have epoxy on the tile faces that wasn't cleaned off properly. I also had a nightmare that the lights went out during grouting so was working in very low light. Ordered some Lithofin Resin Ex after speaking with manufacturers so will see what that does

We are installing a ceramic tile backsplash in kitchen (brick face-sized) using Epoxy Elite EPO which it says works both as adhesive and grout, ordered on-line from Home Depot. Can the mixed product be preserved? The 11 lb can says 60 minutes, but seems a bit vague. It says "mixture life 60 minutes". Does that mean all must be used up in 60 minutes, or just that it will harden to surface on 60 minutes and the rest can be preserved in an airtight container?

You might be better asking the stone manufacturer or contacting the manufacturer of the grout you choose

Good morning My bathroom was renovated by a professional from Canada and he used schlutter board under the tile and epoxy grout. there are places on the floor where it looks like the grout has came loose from the tile along the edge leaving a hairline between the tile and the grout. can I heat up the grout to get it to reseal?

Great vid. I have been using an epoxy grout on showers and bathroom floors in my and family houses as I remodel. I had one bathroom tub/shower that I used sanded grout. I live in AK and we had a bunch of earthquakes over the last 8 months. Sanded grout had a few cracks, epoxy had none. Like others the cleanup was killer for me. Regardless of opinions I will try the dish soap on my next one. Do you have any other vids using epoxy? Interested in seeing the process on a shower surround. I am not a professional just a retired diy hack that has been doing my own work for 45 years. I appreciate your tutorials, some of the best around.

Great tip with wetting the floor first never done that before and I had a very hard time removing it one time. One thing I’d say is always always wear gloves with epoxy grout. I used bare hands and I had epoxy burn for 1 week.

Not necessary wetting the floor... If you use a power saw to cut cement board (Durock or Hardie Backer) the dust will clog pores. Hardie backer has dust on it from the factory. A wet mixed thinset can help resolve this problem, (wet mortar causes problems on walls.) Not much experience with epoxy as a mortar, but i know the surface needs to be dry.

Yes, you need to remove that tile and re-fix it first.

I used this same method in my kitchen, but instead of epoxy I just used plain water. And instead of porcelain tiles, I used porcelain plates, some knives and forks. Works well.
