I would like to see a video on how you carried funds to Canada from Ja. And also what is GIC and if it is something each international student has to participate in. Thirdly, is IELTS a must when going thru express entry option if you are from an English speaking country. Did you have to take this exam and if you did at what stage of your studies did you take the exam. Fourthly, will you consider doing a live maybe a Q & A segment?

Woii. So many questions! I like it😆. I'll definitely consider doing a video on few of these questions but let me answer what I can now. I didn't have an issue with money because I had a Jamaican Scotiabank account that I used when I arrived in Canada. I had about $5000 cash on my person and the rest in my account. Where GIC is concerned, it's not really for us Caribbean people, I mostly see it with Indian students so that's not something we have to worry about. As it pertains to IELTS or any other English exam, I didn't have to sit any for acceptance to grad school, but for Express Entry it's a must. It doesn't necessarily have to be IELTS, there are a few more exams that's you could take instead of IELTS. I can add this to my list of future videos to give more insight. I honestly haven't considered doing a Live Q&A but you just gave me an idea that I'll definitely look into. Thanks for that. I hope I was able to share a bit of info. If not, hopefully future videos will make things a bit more clear.

As long as she's eligible, you can definitely apply for her OWP. Back when I did it for my husband, it took approx. 3 months to process. Hi Melodie! When you say credentials, do you mean, resume, degree etc? So, for my husband he submitted his resume, a copy of his degree, a recommendation from his previous work which clearly outlined all the duties he performed and proof of funds along with other required documents that'll be in your account(a document checklist). Seeing that he was applying for an Open Work Permit, it was just right to submit all those so the immigration officer/s could see that he has the necessary skills to work in Canada.

Hi Latina, it took 3 months. During that time, he had applied for jobs and done many interviews. #NoTimeWasted We actually had to call them a few times because we got the processing time mixed up, but we found out the processing time was actually 3 months and it took exactly 3 months.

To be honest, I've not come across a specific amount you need to proof in this specific application case. A friend of mine did the same thing for his common-Law partner and he only proved $3000 CAD. So in my opinion, the more you prove, the better.
