Bring extra cash incase you decides to expedite for sooner travel. Passport is good to have in hand you don't have to re-new for 10yrs. But don't wait for the 6 months rule and not to be able to travel forgetting to re-new. Great informations thank you.

Yes you can use cash or debit for a money order at USPS but you can also get them at walmart or a grocery store and those are a little cheaper.

Hey! I just became a U.S Citizen because of military service. On the website it says I have to submit my original Naturalization Certificate but I’m scared it will be lost in transit. Is it possible to send in a notarized copy of the paperwork?

No only the original certificate is accepted but you will get it back. If it does not get sent back you can contact the state department.

Yes...from what I understand the postal worker doing your paperwork can just take the cash and get you a postal money order.

No you need a birth certificate or equivalent (crba, naturalization cert, or certificate of citizenship) alongside your id. SSN card is considered secondary id if you do not have an id or have an expired or out of state.

on the ds-11, there are multiple statuses to choose from besides "U.S. Citizen". I am applying for a non-resident state national passport. I noticed that you never mentioned any other statuses to choose from.
