There is a question in the questionnaire - "What does your family member want to do in Canada?" Options: 1. Apply for or extend an open work permit 2. Stay as a visitor. My husband holds SOWP, but no job, should fill "worker" or "temp resident permit holder"? Does your family member want to restore their status in Canada? May know reason to fill "no"? Would like to ask for the letter of the employer, i have the 160 hours placement in 4th semester, I am working as full time from 8/14/23 and the employer will continue to employ me. The letter of completion will be issued in mid of Jan, so from 1/1/24 till the letter of completion, I am still a student, so I can only work 20 hours/week. So I am struggling of how to ask the employer to issue the letter to upload, does HR should write the company employed me from 8/14/2023 as full time employee, then employ me as part-time from 1/1/24 till I receive the confirmation letter of submission of PGWP? Then will contiue to employ me..... it seems quite complicated if ask HR to issue this letter. May have your comments to make it simple and easy?

Hi. You have a very interesting question. Ircc hasn’t announced any restrictions for PGWP holders in sponsoring spouses. I would assume that you can apply for your SOWP but it’s better to consult an immigration lawyer or consultant to be sure.

Hi. Yes, you can use your former gckey. All the info you need for your work permit is on your existing study permit so you won’t need the account that was created by the agency.

I think the "stop working" issue is a different interpretation of rules from different people since there is no law that states that, it makes no sense to have a valid permit until X date and stop working in X-1

Hello. I suggest you submit your pgwp first and when you have the full time job, you can apply for the SOWP. Just make sure that you will submit SOWP’s application before the current permit expires.

Hello. Paystubs is required if you will extend your OWP. I have a friend with the same situation as yours. She applied for her PGWP muna. Then once may 2 paystubs na sya, dun nya inapply si OWP. Make sure lang na magsubmit before magexpire permit n OWP.

Hello. Your husband’s open work permit should follow your expiry. I wonder why his is longer than yours. You can select “Yes” if you want to include him to your extension. “No” if you want to leave his expiry as is (2025)

Part time job is sufficient. That’s what we did. I was the student and only had a part time job when we submitted our application.

Hi. I noticed last year that many people with sponsored spouse or common-law partner visas got approved even if the principal applicant didn't have a job listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC). But there are a few who got refused. I think it's up to the immigration officer handling your case. To play it safe, it's probably better for the principal applicant to have a job listed in the NOC to increase the chances of approval. That's just my opinion.
