I did the application online. Been 170 days, still waitingl. Two calls the alberta cfo "just wait longer" was the response. My friend sent his in by mail, took 6 weeks to get the licence.

Thanks for the content brother. I’m in the same boat with the “anxiety” check mark. Was On medication for a few years a while back, even though I’m off I decided to be honest. I’m thinking it’s going to be a looong wait (2 months in). Would you mind if I asked how long I should expect? Roughly speaking of course . Thank you

Thank you brother appreciate it. Yeah honesty always the best policy. If it was by mail, probably 2-3 months if they have to ask more questions or get you to have your doc fill out a form. But probably not longer than that.

I'd recommend giving them a call, but I imagine yes - probably just like your driver's license. If you let it lapse, you have to go through the process again after a certain point in time. 1-800-731-4000 - call them and ask.

There's only two ways. You must already have your non restricted. Or, you do both courses for NR and R in one weekend and apply for both.

Congrats! As a minor I believe there is a separate process. Please reference the firearms program website for info or give them a call for more details on their process with minors applying for a license.

On the paper application there is a place where you check next to the box for each license you are applying for.

I just finished firearm safety course and passed the test. But, I can’t apply for PAL still. Because I do need three references including photr gaurantor. I don’t have any so I can’t apply for it? Seriously??

It’s just two references and a guarantor. That’s not too difficult to manage.

You can apply for both at the same time, yes.

The license is a physical card. But there’s a mandatory 28 day waiting period before they even look at your application. Give it another 2 months.

@@GTI794No worries. Yeah it’s 28 days before they even look at it lol. Speed of government…. But, that’s only for your first license. I hate to say this but… Canada Post has never lost a parcel of mine so I can’t really speak to that. Again, patience is key :)

Hy.. i got my training done and got my info form fseso. I tried to apply rpal online but its telling me to provide letter of good conduct. But i dont know where to upload that letter. Can anyone help me am at second page of MyCFP where they ask about your date of birth and place of birth its not letting me continue or upload the letter. Some help plz 🙏🏼

No. Just like hookers and blow, you can’t have one without the other. That’s a joke. But seriously no, you need to have a PAL to have an RPAL. But you can do both courses in one weekend.

It’s under the references section on the paper application. On the electronic application it’s in the same area but instead of them signing you can provide their information and RCMP can call them.

They kinda screwed up because they have the main CFP account that you would sign in to check your mailed application, get a transfer number, register a restricted firearm etc but then they have an online only account for online apps and they are NOT the same thing. Kinda stupid and a waste of resources. If you’re talking about the account to do online app you don’t need to worry. It will self delete after a period of inactivity.

You can’t apply for an RPAL unless you already have a PAL. The exception to this is if you had done the course for both in the same weekend. In this case I believe that the application for the RPAL is in the form of an additional checkbox on the original application, rather than a separate application altogether. So you’d only need one application, and then just check off which license you are applying for. Hope this helps!

@@canadianoperator Hello! I've had my PAL for a year, and recently completed the RPAL safety course as a standalone. I've received my course reports back in the mail. I simply want to upgrade my license from PAL to RPAL, I cannot find out how to do this online, as it seems the application process is for those who haven't had any PAL previously. @@criticledudegaming You should be able to upgrade simply by filling out another application. If you want to do this online you'll probably have to go through the new online portal (for online applications) and at some point in the application, select RPAL. Similarly, this can be done on a paper application where you can select to apply for your RPAL. Either should allow you to upgrade your license. If in doubt call RCMP at 1-800-731-4000 they should be able to help.
