wonderful work!! If you breath on the dry glue (with a straw) you reactivate it and it takes the gold so much nicer. Just make sure not to let too much of your breath moisture build up in the straw and then blow it on the glue. Shake it out now and then.

Authentic gold leaf does not tarnish so it does not need to be sealed.

Thanks! I let the glue "dry' until it becomes clear (about 5 minutes?) And then I do the gold.

Really not sure about that....I'm pretty sure the gold would somewhat "crack" when stretched. But that would make it fall off or anything like that, it would just be the look of it (if that makes sense!)

I usually do spot washing... I really don't clean any gold leaf...I just really try not to "need to"!

Did you apply sealant to both the top and bottom (or front and back) of the imitation gold leaf or only to the top (front)? I wonder whether air was able to get to the imitation gold leaf to tarnish it because the fabric would be porous to air and could still contact the gold from behind the fabric. If it was being applied to a solid surface of some sort, air wouldn't get through the surface. I hope this makes sense.

If something happen like a drink or food gets on the fabric that has the real gold leaf on the fabric or the outfit just needs washing from so many use, how would you go about cleaning it? Like can it survive the washing machine or spot clean, dry clean?

Might not have helped but I believe when your handling imitation leaf your supposed to wear gloves because skin oil can cause the leaf to turn.

As you found out imitation Gold leaf is just that, in just about every application genuine Gold leaf is the only way to go

This would be a spot wash only. I haven't tested washing (or dry cleaning it.)

I fired gold leaf onto ceramics and even after firing, it did come off from too strong a cleaning. Be very careful.
