Here we show you how to apply hard wax! If you want more information on how to apply hard wax properly you can check out our corresponding blog post for more info:
hkwax.com/apply...
Though there are many factors to keep in mind when it comes to applying a wax strip, here's my Top 5!
HK's 5 key points for a successful wax session when applying hard wax are as follows:
1. Using proper temperature and high quality wax.
2. Making sure you prep the skin correctly.
3. Having the right application of the wax strip.
4. Removing the wax quickly.
5. Always using post wax care products after each appointment.
Skipping any of these steps will result in the wax service to not be successful. It's important to use a high quality hard wax so the wax doesn't break upon removal. However, Mermaid Wax Signature Series will NOT break, it is so elastic it's great for beginners so you don't have to rush. If this is all new to you using a high quality wax is one way to make things A LOT easier on yourself.
Applying proper pressure to the skin is required so the wax can adhere to the base of the hair follicle. Not pushing down hard enough can cause the hair to snap instead of being pulled from the root.
You also want to make sure you prep the area. This means to cleanse the skin of any oils, make up, sweat or dirt. Any of those things can not allow the wax to adhere to the hair.
When applying the wax strip, make a "lip" at the end, have clean edges and use enough wax. We go into detail the correct way to apply a wax strip so you get the perfect result each time!
We use a major brands blue film hard wax in this video. We just recently switched to our own Mermaid Wax, it's the best ever.

For those who use a low quality warmer mine has 2 settings on and off. I turn mine on for about 25 30 minutes it will have a really thin consistency. turn it all the way off stur for 30 sec. Wait 5 minutes stur again it should now be at honey consistency.

Hi! I obtained my state esthetician's license years ago now...however, I never worked as an esthetician...my license DID get me a couple of jobs however as a clinic manager...but I'm not that anymore either. Anyhoo! I didn't get a whole lot of waxing experience in school. Not much at all! Like almost none...I had done maybe 3 people tops! So I have always been so gun shy when it comes to waxing...recently, I find myself knee deep in divorce...and have busied myself with gardening and purchased a clean and easy wax warmer and a hard wax and a soft wax...although its Summer, I still decided to let all my hairs grow! Going to start practicing on myself and then ask friends, my daughter in law and my bosses wife if I can practice on them. Your videos are so helpful! Like incredibly helpful! I am writing to tell you Thank You!! Many blessings to you and your family! Michelle

Do you have a video walking us through a waxing appointment from the moment the client walks in until the end ? This would be very helpful to us beginners that could possibly get awkward on how to go through the proper steps like collecting the right info on the intake/consent forms, instructing client on how to lay on the table, prep, waxing, going over aftercare and rebooking appointments! :)
@nifflinNiffler
@nifflinNiffler Жыл бұрын
That should all be covered in your cosmetology training. Do not attempt this on potential "clients" without your student or professional license, without a license it's illegal and you could be penalized.

@@nifflinNifflernot all schools are good. My school definitely didn’t teach that & i left feeling really not too confident. This comment is a completely valid request. Just bc your school did doesn’t mean others are as good. They literally just taught us the basics how to apply & the stuff necessary to take the exam & get your license.

I did the other armpit this morning and a strip/patch of my bikini before i realized l, i definitely needed a break. I can't seem to lay the wax like these videos or pull away parallel to the body.

Hey girl! The warmers from Mermaid Wax are the only Industrial Grade, USA made wax warmers available. They are unlike any other wax warmer out there and will last you the rest of your career. You'll most likely be able to give it to your grandkids! I've already had mine for 10 years with no issues at all. All the other warmers you see are Chinese made warmers at a fraction of the quality. These are the real deal, there is no comparison.

Apply wax in direction where hair is growing, and take off in opposite way, exfoliate gently every time you have shower. I have been waxing ( bikini ) for 26 years, however for legs and armpits I use depilating machine. I hardly have any hair now, and ingrown hair was never a problem

@@nicolett811 Exfoliate like the other two said and have a tweezer handy so when you check the area a few days later you can get the ingrown hairs before they set in too deep. Also I've learned that sometimes it's best to exfoliate in the direction of the hair growth instead of in a circle for example with underarms.

Hi, I have a question So Im learning waxing in my class and what she told me is little bit different what you explained She said First, spread wax against hair growth Secondly, using ur tip of the stick, moving the stick side to side to make sure you grab all the hairs Third, u make a leap then remove it AGAINST the hair growth Also you have to make sure u dont make it too thin (but not too thick as well cuz it will break the wax ) and u should not be able to seethrough the hairs . Sorry for the long explanation T.T But when I see other vid they use same movement like you do and spread the wax pretty thin, and THAT is confusing me every time when I practice waxing. I just want to know what is the difference between you and her method Thank you!!

Yes, you want to apply the wax in the direction of growth of the hair you want to remove. Hair in some areas grows in different directions, so you'll need to apply the wax to match.

hi there after all these years lol I’m African-American and have coarse dark hair and started lasering about 13-15months ago. I would go every 5 weeks and have seen great results. Although it does not work on gray hair :( Also this could be a me thing bc I am dark skin but my face seems a bit darker … 😅everyone says they don’t notice but I feel so… Otherwise super happy with the results. I do it through Milan (Colorado) and all together it’s about $5K I’m actually almost all done paying it off :) Money well spent ❤

I ordered and got a roughly $30 including wax. Using now. Never used hard wax before, but I am finding it to be alright. It does the job, not as painful as I was expecting it to be, and pretty straightforward. Was checking this video to see if there was anything I am missing while I am letting it warm up again. I seem to be having it too cool (abundance of caution).

I just bought a 1lb wax warmer from starpil and I love it so far! I was looking on Amazon for wax warmers at first but some of the reviews said their warmers caught on fire. 😳 Decided I would rather buy from an actual wax brand and pay extra.

@@IloveGermany00 I asked this same question and it's tough because I have no clue what makes a wax warmer reliable. Have you tried the mermaid wax at home, how was it? Ordered the Sirena , excited to try it. Hoping it's a win. Haven't tried Starpil, but seems its the best on the marker (Sirena / Mermaid wax) for at home use.

I purchased your mermaid wax and I do everything exactly as you say, and don't know why it barely removes any hair? I used to wax with regular wax and it worked good, but I really want to use the hard wax instead because its supposed to be less painful and more clean waxing than regular.

I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis it causes me to grow thick course black hair everywhere and I need a good wax to remove it that's good for sensitive skin. I have usually always got fever blisters on my top lip after waxing and I don't put wax on to hot. So, can you please recommend a wax right for me?
