here's how I recommend using rosemary based on the randomized trial study. I still prefer and recommend minoxidil among many other treatments for my patients but rosemary oil is a great affordable option, too! As with any hair loss treatment the goal is to KEEP the hair you have and slow the genetically programed loss. If you get more growth that's a plus! And just plain Rosemary oil is fine.

As a hairdresser of nearly a few years, I can tell you, that you are not intended to use harsh hair shampoo on your hair. I have observed hair lines of numerous folks, and I spotted that folks who were using harsh shampoos generally had poor hairline. So I suggest only to use gentle shampoo only. I personally use and suggest to apply littleextrra coconioon shampoo only. Also, do hot oil massage twice a week as it improves circulation and encourages hair.

Conditioner clogs the pores of your scalp and causes excess sebum and grease which clogs hair follicles further leading to hair loss. Rosemary oil should be alone or with a carrier oil. Starwest Botanicals sells an organic Rosemary essential oil in olive oil so that’s all you need unless someone wants to buy the Rosemary essential oil separately and mix into a carrier oil themselves which is more costly to do but will allow the Rosemary to be able to be used for things like cleaning the home.

I've been taking finasteride for about a year now, and i wasn't seeing a whole lot of new growth. it did seem to stop any further hair loss, but that was it. i decided to start using rosemary oil in the last 4 months and i'm seeing plenty of baby hairs underneath the hair on my crown and hairline. It’s Rosemary oil. You can use peppermint oil but you’ll regret it when it makes your brain believe you’re showering in ice water. Rosemary oil doesn’t do that and you can just dilute it in water or melted coconut oil or olive oil or argan oil

I just did a quick google search and it looks like Mielle Mint Scalp Rosmary Oil is already a mixed product. As its a mixed product, it is not pure rosemary essential oil and contains a lot of different essential oils such as lavender, patchouli, etc and quite a lot of different carrier oils. It does not state what percentage of total essential oils is found in this product, nor does it indicate what percentage of Rosemary essential oil is in it. SO this product may or may not be effective and/or safe. To Make Rosemary Oil for Hair Loss: I woud recommend looking for Rosmarinus officinalis ct verbenone as it is the safer option. You can purchase it from Aromatics International, NHR Organics or Florihana which are three companies professional Aromatherapists such as myself get our oils from. You need to leave it in, but it seems the assumption is that one washes their hair every day, so applying oil on the scalp twice daily is manageable.

You should dilute it with another oil, not by itself, and maybe not as many drops as he's recommending. I'd look up the proper amount to mix with a carrier oil

@@tomkuz_ Thanks for your answer. I dilute it with pumpkin seed oil. I am just asking myself if stronger shedding at the beginning is a sign that it works or not. Many people observe this effect with minoxidil but I don't know if this should also be the case with rosemary oil.

I would love to see a link to a study indicating they used 2ml of rosemary essential oil as all the studies I have come across clearly stated they were comparing 2% (n=50) of Rosemary essential oil with 2% (n=50) Minoxidil. 2% indicates it was diliuted. Patients applied 1 ml of the solution (2% standardised lotion, aka 12 drops of Rosemary essential oil in 20mls of Lotion) twice a day equalling 2mls of solution per day. Not 2mls of essential oil per day, BIG difference. By Standardised, they meant that the Rosemary essential oil they selected was chosen so that in every 1ml of rosemary essential oil, there is no more or less than 3.7mg of 1,8 cineole a chemical constitutent found in the essential oil naturally. This DOES NOT mean that 3.7mg per ml of the Solution contains 3.7mg of 1,8 cineole, just that the bottle of essential oil they used to put their drops into the solution contains this ratio of 1,8 cineole. It is really important to read studies carfefully and accurately, otherwise you can promote harmful information.

Always diluted. The Correct and safe dillution for a Rosemary Hair oil is 18 drops of rosmeary essential oil (rosmarinus officinalis ct verbenone) per 30mls/ 1oz carrier oil. This would make the overall mixture a 2% dilution which is what the clinical literature on rosemary for hair loss uses. 2mls of the final mixture is used in the hair daily with results typically showing at the 6 month mark, with same or better results than minoxidil
