Outstanding job. You are killing me, now I want to start my AAR. Your Vinyl top tutorial got me going on a '65 Chevelle SS 396 Z-16 and a '68 Firebird 400 I use to own. Your number of Convertibles has me breaking out my '62 Thunderbird Convertible and I'm going to take one my kits and chop the top to make a convertible. So many cars so little time.

Thank you! Some not so well but those I don't have to show. My son stuck his fingers in one just after I cleared it. I was able to save it and wished I filmed it!

I was looking for random tips and tricks from your playlist and this is a kit I picked up for a future project. This masking did look like a daunting task so I’m glad I can get a video showing me exactly what needs to be black.

Great tip, I am looking forward to trying this on a future build. This should really help with the blackout treatment on the '71 Duster as well. The area where it curves around the back side window is a massive pain to mask and I always miss a little bit. Thanks again for the great tip.

This is probably gonna be my next build and I’m curious to know why do you not clear coat over the side decals? Love the history lesson you give on your builds.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
I did clear coat over them.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler o ok bc when pulling the tape off I thought you said you where worried about pulling them up.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
Yes I was. Even with the clear coat on it, it can still pull the clear and the decal off the body. I just went slow and at an angle. Never pull the tape strait away off the body.
@FuelsModels3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I would’ve never thought that could happen with automotive 2K. Seems like you’d have to worry about that even without a decal under it then.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
The automotive clear etches to some model paints better than others. You never know for sure. I have had the clear pull off in sheets over Testors spray paint. The 70 Cuda seems to be the same way. I just knocked off the battery from the engine compartment while installing the chassis. The clear was glued to the battery but no MCW purple was etched to the clear. It glued right back in place and you can't tell but I now know that it is not that great of a bond.

Thanks for posting another of your excellent videos as I learn a lot watching each and every one you have posted! How many years have you been building model cars and do you have a personal preference of building either GM or Chrysler model car kits?
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching them! I started building when I was about 8 and built many. I'm now 47 and have been actively building the last 20+ years. I really like the Muscle Era and want to build every muscle car in scale. As far as built I have almost as many Mopars as I do Fords. Then comes GM but I have more Mopars that are unbuilt and prefer Mopars overall.
@JackFlemingFan13 жыл бұрын
@@TheMuscleCarModeler It's been years since I've built a model car. I do collect some GM muscle car kits but my real passion has been both Dodge and Plymouth muscle car model kits from the mid 60's to mid to late 70's. Then again, the "new" Dodge Challengers I've seen really make me swoon over them too!

Hey Ral, Can you perform the polishing between the body color and the black at the front fender edge after using modeler's clear coat? Or the polishing can only be performed using the auto clear coat like you used? Any help appreciated, Richie
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
You can if the black is on top of the clear but if it all is under the clear it is sealed in.
@Bob0sModelFabWorx3 жыл бұрын
Love the Mopars. What automotive clear are you using? I've had some success with HOK clears.
