How To Apply Toothpaste on Pimples, Acne, Spots & Zits

Toothpaste can be used as an emergency pimple treatment to dry out pimples and reduce their healing time. However, toothpaste can be quite irritating on the skin, so it is important that you use this treatment sparingly, using the correct technique. The main ingredient that can irritate skin is sodium lauryl sulfate.
Choosing Toothpaste
Go for white-colored toothpaste. When choosing a toothpaste for acne treatment, go for an all-white version, not a toothpaste with red, blue or green stripes. This is because the ingredients which help to dry out pimples - such as baking soda, hazel, hydrogen peroxide and triclosan - are contained in the white part of the toothpaste, while the colored sections may contain ingredients which will irritate the skin
Avoid teeth-whitening toothpastes. Whitening toothpastes contain bleaching agents (for making teeth whiter) which may actually bleach or burn the skin, causing patchiness.
Steer clear of gel toothpastes. Gel-type toothpastes have a different formulation than actual "paste" toothpastes, and so may be lacking the active ingredients necessary to effectively dry out pimples. Avoid using, as it will not do your skin any good.
Choose a toothpaste with a lower fluoride content. Fluoride is added to over 95% of toothpastes in the U.S. as it helps to remove dental plaque and prevent gum disease. However, many people actually suffer from a mild topical allergy to fluoride, and it may cause a skin rash if it comes in contact with the skin.
Go organic. Organic toothpastes are probably your best option when it comes to treating pimples. They contain no fluoride (unless it's naturally derived) and no nasty growth hormones, pesticides or other chemicals. On the other hand, they still contain the ingredients necessary for drying out pimples - such as baking soda and tea tree oil - with the addition of natural soothing and anti-bacterial substances like aloe, myrrh and eucalyptus oil.
How to apply toothpaste on acne
Wash your face well with warm water and your favorite cleanser, then pat dry to lock in moisture.
Squeeze a little toothpaste onto your index finger or the back of your hand. A pea-sized amount should be enough, depending on the number of pimples you're treating.
Apply a small amount of toothpaste directly onto the pimple. You will only need to apply a very small amount of toothpaste to the pimple for the treatment to be effective. Just make sure that you apply the toothpaste directly onto the pimple itself, not on the surrounding skin.
Toothpaste should never be spread all over the skin or used as a face mask.
Leave the toothpaste to dry on the skin anywhere from two hours or overnight, for best results. However, if you have extremely sensitive skin, it may be best to remove the toothpaste after 15 minutes to half an hour. Its really a case of trial and error to see how sensitive your skin is.
I would not put a band aid or plaster over the spot because it culd spread the toothpaste and it won’t be able to breathe.
You can then gently wash the toothpaste off with a cloth or towel.
Repeat no more than four times a week because you don’t want to irritate the skin. After that you should see an improvement to the zit.
Last word of caution
Be aware that toothpaste is not a dermatologist-approved acne treatment, although its a popular home remedy that's been around for years
Regular toothpaste also contains none of the anti-bacterial ingredients that make over-the-counter creams more effective in treating and preventing pimples.
For this reason, toothpaste should only be used as an emergency treatment for pimples

I do this once a week, and I use white toothpaste (since that’s what I use when brushing my teeth). I am telling you now. It really works. As the video said, don’t put it all over your face and just put it on the pimple. Just don’t leave it overnight cause even your skin does not get easily irritated, it will still burn/irritate your face. Just leave it for 5 to 10 minutes. When you put it and you feel like your face is burning or somethin’ that’s the time where you need to remove it. And don’t do it everyday. Do it once or twice a week. Another tip to remove your pimple is to wash your face every morning (the moment you woke up) and every evening. (before you will sleep) friendly reminder: use mild soap. Andddd for the people who said that their face is burned cause of this, well, try to put aloe vera on the burned spot. Hope this helps❤️

So MASSIVE pimples appeared on my cheek and forehead around 6 days before school reopened, I was like I'll use toothpaste on it every night till it goes away. WRONG MOVE....... Guys you have to listen to what they said in the video! Everyone is asking if Colgate is ok but it has fluoride in it (and like they said most people have a mild allergy to flouride). Also Toothepaste like Colgate and Crest have a lot of other chemicals in them that will burn your skin. When using an organic toothepast you minimize irritation to subtle tingling.

Okay I'm trying out (w/ my Crest prohealth). I'm going to try it out on my chest acne mainly cuz these comments are scaring the heck out of my xD. But I can see why some people get burning....when they're scrubbing it all over their face.
