I've had glasses my entire life and I've always felt unable to wear makeup because it's so difficult to put on!! I can hardly see without my glasses and it's so hard to get around them! I finally decided that I want to try and get better at makeup and this video has really encouraged me, so thank you!

I have been looking for a video like this. I wear glasses everyday and this video is very detailed and helpful. Finally a makeup video for those of us who need to wear our glasses to do makeup 😊
@finona1895 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for this. I must've watched a hundred videos from people who don't have bad eyesight so can't possibly understand how difficult it is to apply makeup when you can't see 2 inches in front of your face! I feel like my eyes shrink away behind my glasses so the eyeliner part was so helpful.

I've been watching videos about makeup for glasses wearers that were probably not done by someone with poor vision because they don't address the problem of how to apply it when you can't see! THANK YOU for this! My frames are kind of small and sit close to my eyes, so if I stick a brush under the lens as you do in the video, it'll get the lens dirty. Do you recommend getting a cheap pair of extra large glasses like you have to wear purely when applying makeup?
@kerrylou38 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! That's a good idea if your frames are small;-) Also my husband just bought a wall mounted super-magnifying, lit, mirror for the bathroom! It really helps, it's a little scary to look at though, my skin looks like the surface of the moon!

I'm 65 years old and blessed with young looking skin. Im not old but im very blind without my glasses. I struggle with make up because whenever i take my glasses off its allcabout feeling what im doing instead of seeing. but this helped!! Edit: also this is really similar to what i already do (especially reaching into the glasses) but this is giving me confidence on the feel and check way of eyeshadow
@kerrylou37 жыл бұрын
I just started wearing "bi-focal" contact lenses! I love them! I still need readers for applying fake lashes, and very close up work, but generally I really like them. Still wear my glasses about 50 percent of the time though.

Thank you for replying. I cant wear lenses, due to medical reasons. My girlfriend can and it makes me jealous, considering she mostly wears just for make up >_

I have horrible eyesight. My glasses make my eyes very dark and beady. When I try to use eyeshadow and mascara I end up looking like I have 2 black eyes. Its very frustrating and I dont wear makeup anymore because I get very depressed, it just doesn't look good, no matter what colors I choose. I am going to a Comic Con event next month where I will be meeting a man who played a character who changed my life. I aint pretty by any standard, but I desperately want to try to look pretty when I get my picture taken with him. Your video makes me want to try makeup again.

I am thrilled to have someone doing videos for women with gray or graying hair - to silver. My hair is in the process of graying and I love the streaks as they seem to look like highlights. But, I don't know what to kind of make up or colors to wear. I can afford a couple of high end products but not so many and it sounds like it takes so much to look better. All those brushes etc. I appreciate your video and have just subscribed. Very excited.

*Kerry-Lou, I had to stop this at 1:19 in to tell you I know this will be just brilliant! I haven't seen another video out there about this subject and it is so relevant for a lot of us maturing ladies. Also, I LOVE your purple glasses and I wear purple glasses as well. I'm getting some silver on the sides and temples of my hair but still see mostly medium auburn to brown or visa versa hair color. I turned 61 yesterday. Since you also do hair, what do you think about me putting a Henna treatment on my hair, just to spiff it up a little? I don't want anything permanent or all the chemicals. Thanks for your input!

hi Kerry-Lou I know this video is almost a year old and you might not see this, but I'm hoping you do (you've really inspired me to keep wearing my glasses now that I can't wear contacts and I miss wearing makeup but I've been so frustrated trying to apply it without my contacts). what is your prescription? the reason I ask is I tried to emulate your video but still found it challenging because I wanted to be able to blend perfectly around the eyes which was impossible until I took off my glasses and got so close to my mirror that the air from my nostrils was fogging it up
@kerrylou37 жыл бұрын
My prescriptions says +250 -50 140 !! I don't even know what that means lol! They are progressive lenses. I find that I can do some stages without looking, just by feeling the brush on my eyelid, especially if you use earthy tones. some glasses have such nice frames that you don't need to do a lot on the eyes. Occasionally I do a look that concentrates on foundation, brows, bright lips, and mascara and it looks pretty good!

Love your videos! I have horrible vertical lines on my upper lip - I find them really upsetting. Any suggestions for making them less noticeable?
@kerrylou38 жыл бұрын
Glad that you like the videos Carol. It's important to have a good skin care regimen to moisturize and help combat lines. When you use a makeup brush to apply foundation, (don't use a thick foundation, it will make the lines look worse) go i the direction of the lines, use a small amount of a translucent powder, such as MAC Prep + Prime Tranparent finshing powder, or Makeup Forever HD powder. The reason you should use the powder is to stop the foundation from moving into the lines. Dark lipsticks can travel into the lines making them look worse, so use a lip liner first, (Makeup Forever aqua lip will not feather) stick to a light to medium shade lipstick and blot well. Also don't forget to play up your best features! I will do a video on this:-)

I'm 21 and I used makeup just a couple of times in my whole life, on one side 'cause I find more pratical just don't wear it (also cause I always run from/to university to/from gym or house) and on the other side 'cause i can't see properly without glasses.. your method is okay I tryied it just a couple of minutes ago but the lines were a mess, horrible and I wasn't able to do the "wing" even if I know how to do that.. I think this will be the real last time I try to use makeup. I give up. But thanks for being the ONLY one to think about those people who have struggles to use makup without glasses, you made me feeling better about it 😘😘

It's really tough to deal with makeup when your life is so busy! It doesn't have to be all or nothing though, you could focus on simply covering up any blemishes, and applying a pretty lip gloss. Glasses are almost like eye makeup in a way. I often go makeup free. Good luck with University!
@mariac.delgado67806 жыл бұрын
Kaoru, youth is the best makeup you can wear, if you can't do the wing continue practicing or apply your eyeliner without a wing for now, remember Kerry-Lou is a makeup artist, we can't think our makeup is going to be so perfect like hers, "practice" is the secret😊

Kerry Lou you're gorgeous. Love all your videos. Do you use any treatment to get your natural lashes to look so full. Along with many others things, at 63 my lashes have also gone south. I'm using a drug store treatment but it hasn't helped at all. I've also tried a homemade treatment I found online ( coconut oil etc). It's been months and just isn't working. Thank you so much for your posts. I've been a fan for over a year now. God Bless you for your help. Ro. 💕🌹💕

Hi Ro, thanks for your lovely compliments! Regarding lashes, sometimes I give mascara a miss when I can, I think if you wear it everyday, it can dry out your lashes. I think you should continue with some of the moisturizing methods you are using, but I am a strong believer in nutrition for beauty. Exercise, Vitamins and a good diet are a must for good skin, nails and hair. xxx

I just can't do eyeliner neatly without my glasses on! It's always so messy, I have to keep my glasses on to see what I'm doing wrong.
@kerrylou38 жыл бұрын
Try using a soft color like a grey or brown instead of black, that way any mistakes will not notice as much! Also, have some Q-tips on hand for corrections. Bobbi Brown and MAC have excellent gel liners which are not so messy as a liquid liner. If you use an eyeliner brush with a long handle, you should be able to reach under your glasses and apply the liner. Use your lashes as a guide, rest your brush on them, use the side of the brush, not the point. Hope this helps! Good luck:-)
