Hey I got some great tips from this video. Thank you. I have had my fingers covered in ca more times than I can remember. Why, because I'm too lazy to put on the plastic gloves I bought. The masking tape idea is genius. It is exactly the level of effort I'm willing to spend to save my skin! I also appreciated the paste wax tip. I don't know if it worked because my pen is still on the lathe, but I'm unlikely to fuss with plastic bushings, so I love this diy solution. Thanks again

Thank you for this video! I have watched countless videos on CA finish and could never get it right! I tried your technique that you got from Moy and it worked like a charm. I especially love the paste wax on the bushings tip. It worked amazingly! THANK YOU again for this video. -Robert

2P-10 is the very best stuff finish for small turning projects! Been doing this for over 15 years. I've got a ten year old pen (Jr. Gent) sitting on my office desk that looks as good as the day I made it. Nice vid.

That turned out awesome, Drew! I've watched so many videos on ca finish and it's the first time I've seen the paste wax used to keep the bushings from sticking to the pen. I'm definitely going to be trying this!

Good tip using paste wax on the bushings... I've never done that... but I'll be adding it to my regimen. Couple tips for you and/or what I do: 1) Don't use cotton based paper towels (CA interacts with cotton, and supposedly can cause a fire, I've had them smoking before) -- get those blue shop towels, or whatever, as long as they're cotton free. 2) When I do mine, I do 3 coats of thin first with no activator, so the wood absorbs it a little more. 3) I do 10 total coats, but dealers choice :) 4) It kind of looked like there was some CA sticking off on the ends when the pen was assembled, it was recommended to me to sand that extra CA off with 600 grit before assembly

you should use latex gloves not masking tape to keep the glue off your hands. It will give you more control. Great job on the pen though!
