Although you hinted at it, people should be aware that it is often a good idea not to build the aquascape too high. Corals can grow fairly tall. Whilst thinking about that, most corals can be out of the water for a short time however there are a few which do not do well. Something to consider when thinking about placement as well as height. Think about water changes as part of this when the level of the water may well drop 10-20%. As to sand I do not know and maybe you can provide the answer... how deep does the sand bed have to be for some wrasses which like to sleep in the sand?
@PrestigeReef5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the wrasse but generally anything around an inch is fine, they just need to be covered

Where can I buy this type of rock?
@alaskacosplay2 жыл бұрын
I own a fish only with live rock tank and I don't bother cementing the rockwork together because, as I often get large quantities of new dry rock from my beach side home where they have been sun bleached white, I tend to want to do some redecorating to change the look of my tank without the hassle of cleaning up because of the broken glass in case I break my tank.

I used a thin layer of sand to keep the rocks from sliding, then added the rest of the bag o was using, which was about half, then added the next bag.

For me, I love aquascapes that have plenty of negative space, and lots of places for fish to swim through. Personally, not a fan of scapes that look like a jumbled pile of rocks.
@hannahmorris43573 жыл бұрын
So essentially have the biggest tank possible? Or sacrifice objects for free space ? My local pet stores arent too much help xd
@bigadventure37973 жыл бұрын
@@hannahmorris4357 Yes sacrifice objects for free space. Although I feel like a hypocrite because now that my coral is huge I have little negative space. LOL

Sorry to say this, but all the reasons you pointed out at the beginning of the video are just excuses to be lazy. Saying that each person has a particular taste, doesn't take into account that 99% of them don't know how to create something they like. And that's one of the reasons why 99.99% of reef tanks are ugly. I tried to create a video with the top 10 most beautiful reef tanks on youtube and I had to create a top 7... and I had to include tanks I wasn't convinced I should.
@Angelfishkeeper985 жыл бұрын
Alfredo Reis Deus with all due respect the reef tanks you think are ugly, are probably beautiful to the person that created it. I believe it’s important to not worry what other people think as long as you are pleased as you’ll be the one viewing it. But a strong aquascape will create a more pleasing tank to look at as long as you take coral placement into consideration as it will completely change when they grow in get that Wrong and can get the same issue but everyone has their own opinion and taste
@LightSearch5 жыл бұрын
@@Angelfishkeeper98 I don't agree with you, I think most people get frustrated when they aquascape their tanks because they know what they like and most of the times don't know how to achieve it. The bottom line is that this is something that can be learned and it's rarely given the attention it deserves. It's not learning what other people like, it's learning how to achieve something you like. Having a tank that you think is beautiful helps in keeping your connection with the tank when things go wrong or during the periods when your interest in the tank is on the low side.
@Angelfishkeeper985 жыл бұрын
Alfredo Reis Deus I’m not saying you’re wrong if you’re unhappy yes it can cause you to neglect the aquarium I’m just saying the key word you you think, you don’t know what everyone feels about their aquascapes unless you’ve asked around 1000 people and a majority said they were unhappy then I stand corrected but just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean the person that created it doesn’t either that’s all I’m saying
@LightSearch5 жыл бұрын
@@Angelfishkeeper98 I haven't asked and maybe you're right. I did have a hard time trying to find tanks that I thought were beautiful and this can also mean that the tanks that most people aim for are not what I would consider beautiful. Even looking at tanks in the Tank of the month threads in forums, what you normally see is a huge diversity of corals, filling all the space of then tank and with huge fish. I guess that's what the majority of people find beautiful. Thank you for helping me to see this in a different way. It doesn't change the fact that I think that 99.99% of reef tanks are ugly, but it helps me to put things into a different perspective and understand better why there aren't any reef aquascaping competitions.
@Angelfishkeeper985 жыл бұрын
Alfredo Reis Deus I agree I wouldn’t personally want some of the scapes I’ve seen but I can completely understand why others and the creator may like it I wasn’t have trying to have a dig or anything just trying to explain my point. though I do totally understand where you’re coming from.
