How to assemble a HPN BMW in only 12 minutes ;-)

In autumn 2019 I had fulfilled a childhood dream and bought a HPN BMW with 1043cc, large valves, updside-down suspension fork, electronic dual ignition, central suspension, Edelweiss tuning, etc.
The bike (from 1994) and was originally built with a large rally fairing, luggage system, aluminum suitcases, etc., as it was used for big tours in South America and North Africa.
On the other hand, I would rather have an enduro for weekend tours in the Alps or anywhere else where it is beautiful.
Therefore I have completely disassembled the bike. It got a long 5th gear. Wearing parts were renewed, parts painted or replaced...
A light enduro fairing, new seat and a new rear save weight and give the bike a completely new slim look.
HPN built the successful Paris-Dakar Rally Motorcycles for BMW. Some HPN BWW are therefore painted in the Marlboro design of the Paris-Dakar winning machine of the legendary Gaston. It looks great, but I liked the clean style of the 1983 Hubert Auriol machine even better. It is simply timelessly beautiful.

@Jochen - What is your suspension travel on front and rear? Seat height ? I assume you had to reduce the travel on the front WPs... your feedback is greatly appreciated. Working on my dream.

Suspension 250mm each. Seat hight 92cm.The front suspension travel is not shortened. I only put the fork arms about 1 cm through the fork bridge

My preference would be digital/optical, but I'm not sure about double ignition. I bought a base bike (R100GS 91). Now I'm working on a plan, timeline and parts. Thanks again!

Moin Jochen. Habe meine R80 G/S nach 22 Jahren aus dem Dornröschenschlaf geholt. Die ganze Arbeit habe ich noch vor mir. Annähernd so gut und ich wäre zufrieden. Eigentlich wollte ich meinen HPN Tank dessen Farbe weiß, doch eher vergilbt aussieht runter werfen. Aber Deine Lackierung sieht so toll aus, dass ich das gerne übernehmen würde. Ist das lackiert oder Aufkleber? Spitze

Hallo FranS, der Tank ist weiß lackiert, mit farbigen Aufklebern für die Streifen. Viel Erfolg bei deinem Projekt. Bin gerade an einer R100S BJ 80 am werkeln. Es hört nie auf. Zum Glück.

Hallo Schorsch, danke für das Feedback. Ich bin mir nicht mehr sicher, aber ein Bild pro Sekunde kommt in etwa hin. Die Kamera ist eine GH4 und wir hatten etwas rumprobiert. Das Deckenlicht, vier „LED-Neonröhren“ war dankbar. Die klinisch reine Werkstatt ist meine Garage an dessen Wand das Sektionaltor vorbeifährt. Deshalb kann dort nichts stehen. Insofern passte alles recht gut. Bin gerade dabei ein R100S umzubauen. Jedoch diesmal ohne Video. Viel Erfolg bei deinem Projekt.

Ich hatte mal deine 12 Minuten mit alle 5 Sekunden 1 Bild hochgerechnet und bin auf in Summe 30 Std Videomaterial / Montagezeit gekommen, hörte sich für mich erstmal brauchbar an. 1 Sekunde, Du schraubst echt schnell ;-)))) !!! Hi Thomas, as far a I know there are two options to get a central rear shock mount on the frame. Option one is the screwed in place option like you see in this video, I believe it's from HPN, second would be a welded in place version like SWT sport offers. Es gibt keine HPN Bausätze (mehr?) die man sich kaufen kann. Alles Handarbeit von HPN und verbaut von HPN. Du kannst es aber mal bei SWT versuchen. Die fertigen ähnliche Sachen, aber auch nicht als Bausatz, da dies alles nicht plug and play ist.

Danke für das Feedback. Die HPN hat einen Kofferträger für Alukoffer. Damit alles schön schmal bleibt, ist der Auspuff unterhalb der Koffer montiert. Sieht ggf nicht perfekt aus, fährt sich aber besser, besonders im Gelände.

Also jetzt mal ehrlich, das ist doch ein absolutes Schrott Motorrad! Kein ABS, kein elektronisch einstellbares Fahrwerk, keine einstellbaren Fahrmodi, hat Vergaser und keine Einspritzanlage, viel zu großer Tank, keine LED Blinker. Und dazu noch Speichenräder. Wahrscheinlich sind auch noch Schläuche in den Reifen. Die Maschine ist nichts mehr wert, die kann doch keiner mehr ohne die ganzen elektronischen Helferlein fahren. Aber ich bin ein netter Kerl und zahle Dir 3000 € für die Gummikuh. OK?
