Because of the bottom shelf and front shelf is why i got this over the Traeger 780. I just couldn’t get past how they couldn’t add a few shelfs

I am curious. You install a diffuser plate under the flame broiler. Do you happen to know if that was an optional part? I have the 1150 and have no such plate. When I loot at the display models in Lowes they don't have it either. Thanks and great videos by the way

Thank you! Great question. They don’t include this diffuser plate anymore. I actually took it out and stopped using it after reading that it caused more temperature issues than it solved.

Looks like the new version PB1150PS3 doesn't come with a diffuser plate. Also the grates are straight and not diamond shape on the new version. Great video.

Thanks Jack, I appreciate it. That's interesting to hear. I'm actually not a fan at all of the diamond shaped grates because they are much harder to clean than straight ones, especially with a bristle free brush. So I'm glad they made that change!

Looking at it, we both have 2 different Pit Boss 1150. Mine don’t have the see through glass for the pellet load are, as well as no ash tray easy access on the bottom. Did I get a defected one 😅

Hmm, that's interesting...did you get it from Lowes? www.lowes.com/pd/Pit-Boss-Pro-1150-sq-in-Hammer-Tone-Pellet-Grill/5013310479 Looking at it on the website now though it looks they may have changed out the see through glass for a metal plate on the hopper. Maybe supply chain issues? 🤪 But they still have pictures of the quick ashpot access on the bottom.

@@madbackyard well I would like to take it back my comment and fix it with “I grabbed the wrong grill” lol. By accidentally I got the 850 not the 1150. I was able to return it and get 1150 and everything is the same. Awesome video, thanks for your reply back

I just bought this model & it does not include the diffuser plate. I double checked instructions & no mention of a diffuser plate??

It's the long lighter weight rectangular piece with the hole in the center cut out for the ash pot. It goes in and sits down in the bottom of the grill drops in and fits around the ash pot. Here's is a link to my instruction manual. It's on page 11. They might be calling it something different now than when I bought mine. These grills don’t come with the diffuser plates anymore and I took mine out since making this video and so I do not use it any more. It caused too many temperature issues so Pit Boss stopped including them from what I understand.

Since nobody revealed the secret to getting the top rack installed, I will share after struggling for a half hour! Slide it in over the bottom rack and then bring it up at an angle.
