How to Assemble an Epee

Hello, and thanks always. I wired up my pistol grip épée for some reason when we tested on the Wi-Fi unit right where the blade goes through the bell it will ring is that a problem with the other weapon or my weapon? There’s no obvious broken wire or anything or is it because my handles aren’t insulated? I guess I don’t understand the electrical conduction and grounding…

When you say ring, you mean the tester goes off as if a point is scored? Is there a lot of spaghetti wire sticking out there? If there's too much, it could be an issue as it isn't grounded. Otherwise, I would check under the base of the connector where it sits against the bellguard, if there's dirt there it could be causing things to not ground properly.

Yes by ring I meant record a touch/get a light… thank you wireage looked pretty clean but I’m going to double check it

The wireage wires look pretty clean but I’m gonna check for the other it’s an old connector and bell guard I was trying to recycle into a new blade

After doing this is there an at home way of testing the epee before a competition?

I would like to ask something, yesterday I noticed my epee point is a little loose, as if the barrel had not enough glue, it can be rotated. How can I fix the point and not to rewire? What would you recommend? Do you have any video about it?

Hi there, this is for foil but the concept is the same for epee to tighten a barrel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2jMkq17fah4atU Unfortunately, when your barrel is loose, you have about a 50/50 chance that tightening it will solve the problem, or will break the wire entirely. You can try this, but know you're looking at a rewire sometime in the future. It's just how lucky you get with tightening the barrel Best of luck!

You'll need to shorten the tang

i use a multimeter rather than a test box (as hard to use the test box to test the wires unless you insert the wires in he test box... annoying and finicky but possible) and test it at each stage of assembly to make sure I haven't crushed the wires (that is placing on probe on the guard or the blade and the other on each wire in turn to ensure the weapon is not earthed) .. I know a long and tedious way to do it but I have found easier to find the fault and correct it as i am assembling rather than at the end where I may have to start loosening bits to find where the fault it .. then using the test box at the end to see if it works as well. I do like you running the wires through the groove on the socket (german socket i think... most common copied by other companies - the (english) leon paul one is annoying too ...)
