Your height is fixed. There is no device to adjust the height.

So there was two black piece that goes in the back that indidnt see you use. We’re those only if you wanted to secure it in the back?

For safety's sake, I'm telling you to fasten it. But most are not fixed. If you have small children at home, it is better to secure them.

Are the small metal screws for the runners supposed to go all the way into the holes?
