Nice Video... I have a 30 amp system. I have 2 of these panels, and the gauge wire that's attached to the panel is 12 AWG, you need 10 AWG from the panel to the battery controller. I used a SAE 10amp fused wire, and removed the 12 AWG wires and soldering the new 10AWG wires to the panel, there will be no bottleneck situation from different AWG wire. Now, I'm going to crimp MC4 connectors to replace the SAE connectors on the panels, and opted for SAE to MC4 adapters for my 10AWG wire ends to attach to the MC4 connectors from the panels to the battery controller, because if I decide to sell these panels for newer larger wattage panels in the future, They will have the improved 10 amp fused wire still attached to the panels with MC4 connectors, and whoever buys them will get an improved 10AWG fused wire panel with MC4 connectors. I have 2 more of these panels arriving soon for a total of 4 @100w. To keep this system under the 30 amp limit, I will put 2 panels in series, and 2 panels in series, then Parallel both series panel groups together. 18-DC volts per panel X 4 =72v, and 6.2 amps Max per panel X 4 = 24.8 amps, well under 30 amp max system limit. GLTA !

Hi Tony. Never done solar but always used fully tinned copper in low voltage marine applications, it will serve you well. Thanks for posting.

The price of wire has become outrageous. I have to do it right the first time. I can't afford to do it twice.

The harbor freight panels I have have very small wires, I question as to whether they could be connected to an MC4. Studying it. It does not appear that would be a good idea. Anybody have any ideas about how to make it work?

10 gauge was tight then the 12 gauge wires from the Thunderbolt solar panels don't seam to seal water tight.

Am i the only one who thinks that it Looks like the H.F.T. panel has much thinner wires ? Btw, can you make a video on how to repair damaged fiber optics lines ?

Every brand has a different wire size. There is no set wire gauge. If it's big enough then it's big enough.

I like the fact that you've upgrade the connectors Would thinner wires effect overall performance ?
