Neat design, but I have had several layer adhesion failures due to the orientation of the prints and weight applied. Especially at the the wind mechanism

How do I use one of your other escapements on this clock? Such as the rolling ball or flying pendulum?

What are the threads on the pendulum parts? I would like to use a tap/die to clean them up after printing.

I just scaled up the Pendulum Adjuster and the Pendulum Adaptors by a factor of 1.04. Everything screws together easily now.

Could this clock be scaled to be a bigger size? Looking into making a clock like this, and I love the design, but I wanted a little bit of a larger footprint on my wall.
@BackseatStudios Жыл бұрын
Since the movement is timed by the pendulum, you should be able to scale it up, it just might take some extra adjusting of the pendulum. Might need to be longer or have a heavier weight, etc. Just be sure to account for the holes getting bigger when purchasing your bearings and screws.

I purchased the plans and assembled this! I got it to run for about an hour, but it eventually stops. I've fiddled with the escapement, adjusted the pendulum weight, made sure the screws aren't too tight on the bearings, etc. Any ideas to get it to run longer? Can I add more weight? It seems to run better when I pull down on the 5 pound weight. Thank you !
@Engineezier2 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely add more weight! That would definitely help

Layer to layer bonding on the 3d printed parts continues to be a weak point. 6 different pieces have now broken,(seperated) typically where a column steps down in diameter. An increased wall thickness would help this. Do you know what setting in cura addresses this? I have noted the bearings I purchased on Amazon are stiff creating a lot of drag. I'm sure this is hurting clock performace.

Hello, it prints very well. Question - my bearing fit very very tight. Some of them crack the base. Is there something I am doing wrong? The print seems very clean so I didn't sand anything out. Help appreciated.

Great model! All the parts using just one bearing are however very loose, especially the second hand and escapement cog. It's so loose that the tip moves about 5mm in all directions. Perhaps the bearings are poor quality, I don't know. All parts ordered from Aliexpress. The cogs rotating on two bearings run well.
@User_PC_Loadletter2 ай бұрын
you might have the wrong sized bearings. I did this mistake. the bolts should fit perfectly inside the bearings and not slide around.

Would there be any reason not to increase the mass of the weight by for example adding ball bearings? I am thinking about the rigidity of the prints

Hey love the design and enjoyed making it. I'm amazed how you can design something like this, fascinating! I would love to see more about the design process in a future video. I've purchased and built the clock and would love to get it working, my clock stops after a few minutes no matter what I try. I've read through the full discord and tried most things suggested. Any chance of a trouble shooting video? Thanks :)
@djaydeved Жыл бұрын
hmmm it stops after a few minutes? simple things first, you say you've tried most things, but not all, are your bearings properly spining? as in, all of them? cause clocks can and are very sensitive to that kind of stuff, thats why it was designed with actual ball bearings.

First off, LOVE the work and ingenuity. second off, can you recommend what to do if when printing the gears, you can't get them to mesh and spin freely? I'm currently trying to print at like 99% scale to see if it helps, but so far it hasn't been a good solution. third off, I don't think your clock Discord link works :) again, LOVE the work! keep it up.
@Engineezier2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate that! The problem may lie in how they get screwed in, or if they are too tight. Try joining the discord with this link: discord.gg/nBpvC89FU6 and send some videos and the community and I will be able to help you figure it out!

I can’t get it to run for more than a minute or two. I’ve made sure every gear spins freely with no binding or rubbing. Eventually the pendulum loses speed and then it just stops. Wondering what I did wrong. And I can’t for the life of me get it to have an equal beat after hours of trying. Maybe my filament has more friction than yours?
@andrewbarber92665 ай бұрын
I have the same issues. I have reprinted now and still the same issue. I have added more weight taken some off it ticks really loud and the pendant wobbles its tick pattern is not even. And it stops about 50 seconds on
@bretbenziger69085 ай бұрын
I took it apart and made sure everything wasn’t too tight and spun for a few seconds if flicked quickly. After a few weeks of tweaking the pendulum I’ve got it working for 4-5 days without stopping. Keep at it.

Hey, for some reason, when I try to slice the files in Cura, it crashes my pc. Did anyone else have this problem. Btw I tested it was your files because I can slice any other files without it crashing
@jonsalaban7022 жыл бұрын
There are no errors in the stl files. Some of the files are large and really make the cpu work when slicing. Be patient...they will eventually slice...
