Thanks for doing this. I was issued my ruck last year and felt like there was something that I could do to make it more comfortable, and I was right. I reassembled it the way you were teaching and it does feel better. Thanks again, I really appreciate it. Here's to future ruck marches haha

I disassembled mine (I just got my kit recently) to wash coz It sooo dirty and when putting it back together I was lost. I can't remember exactly how to assemble it. So I searched and found your video. Very helpful. Thank you very much for this tutorial.

Never been taught how to properly adjust my ruck at BMQ, and the previous owner of my ruck must be way taller than I am, the ruck never fits me, so I ended up ruck marching miserably every single time, I wish I could've seen this earlier. Thanks for showing me!

Very helpful, thanks! I didn't thread the cord on the top edge right the first time - a word about between which wires is helpful.

Watching your videos brings about a pleasant nostalgia for me back when I was in. Maybe I was the odd man out in thinking this, but I loved all my kit and enjoyed making it work for me. I'm no longer serving however the camping instinct in me is still pretty strong. I picked up a ruck recently but the way it was designed, they made it so you're kind of forced to have to wear the main bag on the lower back area with the sleeping system up to over your upper back. I haven't tested it out yet as I'm still building it (aka: putting all my stuff in the appropriate pouches, purchasing a sleep system etc.) but have you had a chance to try out any rucks like this and if so, does where you put your stuff make a difference? Example: is it more comfortable to wear your sleep system on top of the main bag or under it?

Your waist strap is thinner than mine, except for at the connection of the lobster clasps themselves. But the part that you showed being threaded through the bottom part of the frame is about 2 inches whereas my CF waist belt is about 3 inches at that point. Do you thread it therefore through the next part of the frame just above it? It seems about 3 inches at that point, but it is higher than where you positioned yours...I'd appreciate your advice as i don't wish to have the weight bearing of the load riding incorrectly on my hips. Great video and thanks!

Does your waist strap have two rows of eyelets down its length? I suspect you have a 82 pattern web belt, which is jot uncommon. Those belts are wider and allow you to better add pouches although they are heavier. They are not going to fit through the frame the same as a standard belt, you will wantnto just secure it with zip ties or paracord. I can't tell you how to adjust your pack without knowing your height and and seeing the pack on you. Your best bet is to join the Oshawa Bushcraft and post you question. We have an entire community of people who are very good at this.

@@OshawaBushcraft Yes, it is precisely the belt you describe. I wish for the life of me I could recall how it was secured when I was in the CF 20 years ago, but unfortunately I cannot. But anyway, I appreciate the zip ties suggestion, as well as the Oshawa Bushcraft FB group. Thanks!

great instruction. where do you recommend we order these packs from?

My local surplus store carries them for around 70 bucks and they ship, I don't know of anywhere else that does near that price. If you search for "Heroes Outdoor" in Oshawa you will find them, they have a competent website with online checkout.

I would hesitate to order from Hero Army Surplus, I once ordered two packs from them that were supposed to be grade 1 but when they arrived were barely salvagable. I called to get it fixed and got laughed at. I would not shop there.

thepreppernetwork this is a pack you seriously want to buy in person, same as any Canadian Army surplus. All of it was used pretty hard before being sold for pennies.

What knot do you recomend using for tieing the ends of the paracord to the frame?
@OshawaBushcraft
@OshawaBushcraft 2 жыл бұрын
For the original frame? just a lot of overhand knots.
