How to assist a chick in hatching.

Thanks for the video. Question for you but first let me describe the scenario: A situation where the chick has pipped but appears to be slowing/weakening and not really making any more progress. One peels the shell a little bit and discovers that there are still blood vessels and yolk. What does one do in this scenario? Let the chick continue to hatch on its own, hoping it'll finish the yolk and find the strength to free itself, even though it appears to be weakening? Or is there anything one can do to assist at this point? My understanding is that once veins and yolk are discovered, there's not a lot that can be done if the chick isn't strong enough to do the job. Also, in a related scenario, what of one has the exact same scenario as above but also discovers the chick is shrink wrapped? Just try and moisten the membrane and then, as above, hope the chick finds a way to finish the yolk and power through? Because both scenarios seem like little can be done to help due to the danger of causing bleeding and yolk absorption interruption. Maybe I'm wrong, however

Note: I've been hatching fairly successfully for a few years now but we have a new incubator this season and it has been a learning curve all over again.

If there are blood vessels and the yolk is not completely absorbed. You are best to return it to the incubator and leave it for 6 to 8 hours. The chick is getting nutrition from the yolk and the loss of blood takes a toll on an already weak hatchling. There is a small possibility that there is an internal abnormality that would prevent it from living and it will not make it, but it also could be taking a rest as they do during the process of hatching. Use a damp paper towel under the egg for additional moisture if the airway is clear of the membrane and egg shell. When it has absorbed the yolk and you begin to help the membrane is easily pulled off after wetting it. If you have any other questions, I am happy to answer to the best of my knowledge.
