Here is a simple how to video showing the making up of a RG59 coax cable using a BNC and strain relief.
Whilst there are many ways to achieve the same result, this is one of my techniques of BNC connector installation on a RG59 coaxial cable.
This video is Powered By Seagate Skyhawk.

When you have a multi strand centre RG cable, ie not solid, can I use the crimped system or do I have to solder the pin?

Thanks for showing the connections which brand connectors are recommended? Can u please suggest the ones which are the best for temporary outdoor events, as when we are finding up the cables get dirty from the mud and the connectors get spoilt and difficult in cleaning

The ferrule is not supposed to be clamped twice, the die is deliberately that width to leave a small "Bell" at the bottom of the ferrule so it doesn't damage the outer insulation of the coax, especially when moved. And prevents the impedance of the coax being altered.

In my experience of 25 years of doing this it makes a better connection, maybe you don’t do it but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done , I know loads of people that also do this. Thanks for you comment all the same

Any idea where I can purchase flexible (rubber?) strain relief type protective “boots” like the ones shown in this video? I can’t seem to locate anything similar. I’m using RG-400, RG-142, RG-223 and occasionally RG-58 with crimp style Amphenol BNC connectors and think the strain relief boots in the video look far nicer than the “doubling up” on marine grade heat-shrink tubing that I’ve been doing for years. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks ! Just what I wanted to ask!

Is it possible for BNC connectors to fail leading to some cameras on Hikvision to show 'no video;? Everything else/other cameras a fine, could it be BNC issue? Is it too a small a job for someone to come out? Thanks pal

Looks like a painfully slow process. Is there any benefit to this, over putting an Fconnector on with and F to BNC adaptor. F connector can be put on with a stripper tool in about 10 seconds

Thanks for this great video, i'm having problems acquiring fairly long cable to work with my oscilloscope, as everyone pairs up a 1 meter length with BNC - to probe, or banana jack,i require something in the region of around 2, to maybe 3 meter length, as some vehicle are very difficult to access,and of course the laptop with the interface(oscilloscope) cannot be too close to the vehicle that is connected up whilst working away safely, do you recommend a longer coax cable in the region of 3 meter length ,and could you do a video, or refer me to something that has been done successfully ? Much appreciated and Bless 🙂

@@DVSLTD Thank you so much for your kind response, 'LEGEND' 😎, i have an Hantek 3064A 4 channel 60Mhz oscilloscope (DSO laptop version) with a X1/ X10 attenuator built in the probe, i'm guessing it may well be the RG59 (as China products are usually fairly low spec) however i think it may well do better with a slightly thicker inner core and outer sheathing, what do you Think, or better recommend ? 🤔willing to try and get at least 2 Channels up and running with longer reach cables, as the standard probe with cable supplied is simply NOT practical for any working Mechanic doing diagnostics safely with both laptop and scope virtually on top of a running car!! much appreciated for your kind input, Bless 😇

Does anyone know how to go about painting your BNC adaptor (black for example)? Is it safe to just spray it on with a can? I've seen a lot of BNC adaptors black and I want to be able to do this with an adaptor that only comes in chrome.
@DVSLTD

You could spray it black once its on but it could effect the connection properties. There may be black ones on the market just not seen any?

@@DVSLTD Well, I've looked pretty hard for the last few days and just can't find anything. I was thinking about spraying it, but without knowing if it will effect the electrical properties I feel it's too much of a risk. There are plenty of other types of BNC connectors that are black, but I don't know how they make these? Any idea?

@DVSLTD
@DVSLTD 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Johnson, so the image wont work right ? it depends on the signal type and cable IE if using latest Turbo DVR it can go up to 800mtrs @1080P , have you tried to reduce the camera resolution to check ?, AHD is one of the furthest signal types , and this is getting nothing ?,

Ohh, I Thougt You Would Show How To Do It With A Bit Older Style BNC Connectors because I have Bunch Of Them And I Dont Understand How To make The Connection With Coaxial Cable, I have This Military Grade Coaxial Cable That Have Many Copper (Almost Like Pipes) Around It, Several COnductive Layers And TThen Copper Foil And Everything is Pure Copper, No Aluminium Nonsense, The Connectors I Have Are Brass And Some Are Copper, But All Are Silver Plated, All Are From USSR Times, They Look Diferent On Coax Side, But They Are BNC And TNC And All That, But The Coax Side Is Diferent, Like They Are Meant To Be Taken Appart, TThey Are Many partts In Them, Pressure Screws And Stuff Liek That, I Wish I Could Send You Them And You Could Show Us How To Solder Or Make The Coaxial Conections On Such Connectors Because I believe There Are MANY people With Them As Old Stock Who Doesnt Know How To Do It Properly !

Wow can't believe you didn't more blasted for poor workmanship. Yes I can use the Stanley knife. But seriously please use the right tool to cut the outer and braid. I'd ping my workers and myself for this effort. Hairy braid is a no-no. However all I use now is Cat5e/6 with baluns. Tho I do want to try POC.
