Hello! I have to sew a half inch navy elastic to my daughter’s sailors hat for her hornpipe costume for highland dance. It is worn under the chin and visible. The inside of the sailors hat is satin. The satin is not really securely attached inside the hat and I am not sure how to attach the elastic inside the hat. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!❤

Could you consider teaching a feather flower?
@elenashvabmillinery10 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I don’t work with feathers but I will definitely consider to arrange the tutorial. Thank you for suggesting! Btw, tomorrow Friday 22nd 5pm UK time I will go live for members live session. We will continue working on a Sinamay boater hat. Hope you could join 😊

I don’t know if you can help me I crocheted my first Raffia fedora, I need to sew in a sweat band but every time I do it’s too stiff and it makes the hat smaller and I’m trying to figure out what to use that can be elastic but also good to wear on the forehead. I’m sorry if this is off of what you’re doing you are fascinating me with all your other hat tutorials I was hoping you could answer this question
@elenashvabmillinery Жыл бұрын
Hi Carla, thank you for your message! And well done on making your own first raffia hat 👏👏👏 It’s hard to say what is happening with the hat and a sweatband you using without seeing it. But I can tell you what I’m usually using for stitching the hat band - it’s Petersham ribbon, it’s usually 100% or 50% cotton which makes it easier to use. You can see an example here www.petershams.com/collections/petersham-ribbon Raffia could be quite hard to stitch through depending on a yarn quality. I would say it all comes with experience. Just keep on going and I’m sure it will become easier! Hope that helps ;-) Kind regards, Elena
