Thank you so much. I am struggeling over a year now with the natural hair on my doll...the finish was never as pretty as yours but I guess that I can now bring it to a great finish. Thank you.

Thank you for watching the video Roni, I hope it helps you out. I do have a lot of dollmaking e-books that teach all of these techniques in step-by-step with photos, you can find them on my Etsy shop. I always link to it in the description box of all my videos.

Thank you Sharon! The way I speak about my dolls and the way I try to teach doll making is directly inspired by how I feel about all of this. I am incredibly grateful to have the chance to experience being a dollmaker and I try to expand that joy to others.

Fabiola, la fabulosa! The few dolls that I have made, have been made with loads of patience and with much attention to detail (which I have learned from you), however, the hair on my dolls have left much to be desired. That is until now, "gracias, mil!"

Hi, is the cap necessary? I don't have the mohair yarn and was wondering if I can just sew the hair weft on without it.
@Figandme
@Figandme 2 жыл бұрын
You can sew it directly to the head, but if you are using mohair wefts, they have a very hard and small width "root" which will be much harder on your hands trying to sew them to the head and the dreaded result of seeing the skin poking through...unless you sew the wefts touching each other...which will create too much hair for the doll. But as always, as a doll maker, the choice is yours.

@@Figandme yeah she definitely have loads of hair and I'm still waiting for more. I'm making it for my daughter and not for selling so it's not that big of a deal, but I learned a lot that I would do differently next time. I also sewed it all by hand which I really enjoyed.

Thank you for this, it's very informative. May I ask what you use to attach hair that doesn't have an obvious match in the brushable mohair, for your lovely Blu, for instance?
@Figandme
@Figandme 2 жыл бұрын
You can dye the mohair yarn to match the weft, I have done this many times before. You could also sew it straight to the head though it will be more particular as you will have to sew it in a different way to avoid seeing the scalp. Completely different sequence of attaching the wefts.

This is so awesome and informative, how much locks do you use for a 16 inch doll? Thank you love all your dolls, there are so beautiful ❤
@Figandme
@Figandme Жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the doll head, not her height. I have 16" dolls with an 8" head and 16" dolls with a 12" head. It also depends on the length of the fiber, how thick you want the wefts to be sewn and how far apart you will space them in the head. I recommend starting with 100 grams to be on the safe side. Make a weft, weight it, sew it to the doll and see if that was enough. Trial and error because our preferences vary.

Great job! Can you pls say the length of the hair weft you used on each doll?
@Figandme
@Figandme 3 ай бұрын
No sorry, most dolls were made a very long time ago so I don't remember. But if I understand your question correctly...I recommend about 120" to 140" of weft for a doll head of about 13" to 15" circumference at the hair line.
