hi! I’m following your tutorial and have all the materials, i was wondering for the base of the head do you use a styrofoam sphere to make the head so round at first? Or what do u use to fill the base head before soft sculpting? Thank you beautiful work💕
@Figandme2 күн бұрын
If you are following any tutorial of mine you will see I roll wool tightly. I do not use styrofoam inside the doll. They are all wool. The face is completely felted before I cover it in skin fabric.

Hi, I was wanting to make a waldorf doll for my little sister. I was just wondering, does the width (or overall size) of the stockinette matter? :)
@Figandme9 күн бұрын
Yes it does but not as much as you think. You want enough stretch to contain the head and the wool, and enough length so you can make the belly.

Why do you felt the doll and then cover it with the fabric
@Figandme12 күн бұрын
well, cause that's how we make these dolls. Others are made of ceramic and painted, etc. You can try to make an all sculpted in wool doll with no skin cover, but then it wouldn't be a playable doll since moving it around and playing constantly with it will lift the wool again.
@paulameredith484312 күн бұрын
@@Figandme no I want pone of these they are beautiful and after watching again I see that is how you form the chin and nose and cheeks etc.

Going to make one will be my first. Made cloth dolls long ago pillow case dolls. Had no face and no hair. Then made fabrics dolls with yarn hair. These were for my daughter and two nieces. Was a lot of fun. The are grown women with grown children and I have a great grandson and great granddaughter 8 months old. Got my pillow case doll out and refurbished her. Going to give her to my great granddaughter. So now that I have retired from nursing I am now going to start sewing again. Doing a little hand mending and visible mending on sweaters. So wish me luck. Waiting on my kit for the doll.

I love your work. I live in Brasil, and I can’t find felting wool in good prices, so I’d like to know if it can be replaced for some other product.
@FigandmeАй бұрын
Felting wool (the coloured one) is not cheap. But what I use is quilt batting, which also is not remotely cheap. If you want to make natural dolls you simply must use wool if you want to felt them. If on the contrary you just want to felt, I believe you can use the technique using polyfill which should be widely available in your country.

Maybe I'm dumb but how do you end up putting the fabric on at the end and making it cling to the sculpted face so snugly?
@FigandmeАй бұрын
Its a rather lengthy process to drape the fabric and make it conform to all the nooks and crannies (with lots of pins) and then cleverly placed sculpting stitches to sink the fabric into certain areas. It's not magic, just patience, needle, thread and pins.

It takes time to hone down your skills and learn how to achieve symmetry. Don't get discouraged as practice does help a lot. I have two online classed where I show you how to felt firmly, with high quality in mind, and how to achieve the face proportions that correspond to young children. Muchas gracias por sus explicaciones,para mi está técnica es nueva, me gustan mucho muñecas Waldorf, peto acá en Colombia 🇨🇴 Sur América, no consigo la tela ., encontré,tela de franela. Le quedó perfecta ☺️
@Figandme2 ай бұрын
