I LOVED watching the birds come to the water! Feeding birds is my new hobby. I live in the suburbs of Indiana. I mostly want to attract more cardinals. Thanks for the videos!

I'm glad you enjoyed. It is an awesome hobby isn't it. I'm always trying to attract more birds. Cardinals love sunflower seeds.

There goes the government reading my mind again because I live alone in silence and haven’t researched this topic, yet here comes this video suggestion a day after I was wondering if it was worth putting up a bird feeder during the approaching Oklahoma winter. Guess it still might be worth it! I didn’t know there were winter birds so Thanks for posting

Love this!! The past two years I've really gotten into bird watching and attracting birds to my yard. I get a lot of visitors of many different types, but now want to add areas for them to get water. Live in the Midwest where the water freezes during the winter, going to try out one of those heaters! Just found your page and subscribed!! ❤️

I have 2 birdbaths, I had 4 but rarely ever do any birds ever use them. I keep them clean, they are not too deep, in warmer weather I keep solar fountains with a slight spray to keep the water moving. One is in the open, one is under a tree with branches and feeders nearby. I have a variety of birds but it puzzles me why hardly any of them use my bird baths.

Maybe they find water elsewhere? Mine are most active when all natural water has dried up.

Hey. Great content! Thanks for teaching me this amazing idea! I've got a question, do I put warm/hot water or cold water on a really cold and really windy day
@BackyardBirdsUS
@BackyardBirdsUS 2 жыл бұрын
Just use cold water. Hot water may damage the container and the birds.

@@BackyardBirdsUS Thanks! I've got another question to ask. So there is this magpie that is really close to me, it keeps standing on one leg as soon as there is no food in its mouth and it also lays on the floor bending its knees. I'm getting really scared of what's happening. If you know how to solve the problem, can you please tell me? Thank you again!

I have no idea about your magpie. I know they are very smart. Probably wants you to feed it more.

@@BackyardBirdsUS I don't really know myself. It comes 3 - 4 times a day for me to feed it (lol) and every time there is food in my hand, I stick out my hands, and it leans closer to me to eat it from my hand, but I flinch because I'm really scared to hand-feed the birds but yeah, I flinch, so I put the food to the ground for the bird eat, but it sometimes doesn't eat it. I'm growing curious about that bird.

I have a lot of birds that visit my bird feeder throughout the day but I rarely see them in my bird bath. How can I get them to use it more? I've had it for several months now.
@BackyardBirdsUS
@BackyardBirdsUS 3 жыл бұрын
You may want to locate your bird bath near some cover like a bush or some vegetation. And it helps to have it on the ground. I see a lot of birds at my bird bath right now. But other times of the year I don't.

Hi. Will it hurt birds if they take a bath in a heated birdbath in below freezing temps? Or maybe they just don't do that?
@BackyardBirdsUS
@BackyardBirdsUS 2 жыл бұрын
No. I don't think so. Their feathers don't get soaked so they are okay.

How come you have American Robins and black birds in the middle of December? Last time I checked, these birds migrate during late fall and winter and only return in spring.
@BackyardBirdsUS
@BackyardBirdsUS 4 жыл бұрын
Most do head south but there are always a few that stick around. Plus it's been very mild here. I have 5 grackles and that's really unusual for December.

It seems that having a birdbath on the ground is more appealing to the birds than having one suspended off the ground. What do you guys think?

All purple finches have a mask like a raccoon. I'm the video, the birds feeding on the table are purple finches. House sparrows are gray, the males have a black chin. How this helps.
