Happy you found this video helpful. alot people think silicone is bad, but as it gets pressed in most of it gets mashed off the seal and what stays is only whats needed if they are bad places where the seal goes or misshapen due to heat depending on what you working on

Thank you for posting this video! It was very helpful! I had a bit of trouble hammering that sleeve on the stub and I came up with a work around.... I used a tie rod tool you can get at any auto parts store and it worked like a charm. You get more control and don't have to worry about knocking it down too far.

This was the exact fix that I needed. I did not have an intermediate shaft the way you did and I had to drive it onto the axle. The other three mechanics could not figure this out and with your help, I made them look like fools.

never use any type of sealant on any parts unless the manufacturer did while assembling the parts. in other words. if the mfg. didn't use silicon. you should not either. how easy do you think that seal will come out the next time? when you find out your seal leaks?

Couldn't find information about that new seal surface for the stub, like how to replace it. Like how you showed that part, but how in the world did you get the old one off the shaft without a press? Did you cut it off somehow? I'm thinking about freezing the whole thing, and pouring hot water on the seal surface to try and slide it off the shaft.

@3:55 How important is how far you go? I installed that small seal (2003 chevy Cavalier), then put the assembly on a new CV Axle, tapped it in, the Intermediate Shaft was locked, but I thought I'm kind of too far with that small seal. So I tapped it in a bit more (exactly how it shown @5:31) and now it looks to me that the distance between the rubber on the seal and the end of the cylinder on which it sits is too small. How important is all that? Can't find the answer in any film. I would appreciate any opinion on this matter. Thank you for the film again.

I have a knocking sound in the area of engine on our 2003 Chevy Cavalier. The sound depends on rpm, but doesn't change if you shift gears. So I hope it might be a worn CV Axle on the Passenger side (Right side). When I've replaced the transmission fluid on that car I also noticed, that the part of the inner part of the CV Axle on RS is covered w/oil or smth. Nothing is dripping, but the surface is kind of wet. I think maybe it is leaking CV Axle seal causes all that noise. The film is very helpful for me, especially I received rather contradictory answers on Amazon about those 2 seals. That small shaft @2:15, do you always need to remove it when replacing Right CV Axle. And does it come off by itself when you remove the CV Axle on RS, or you need to make some efforts to extract it? Thank you again.
@demandred1957 Жыл бұрын
it usually comes out with the shaft. I have replaced the axles before, but not the seals. that was what I was here for. Hope it worked out for you.

I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt that is leaking transmission fluid on the drivers side. When i've pulled the cv axle in the past the axle separated from the shaft leaving the shaft inside the transmission. Look BzB 315, the only people going to see this video are those who are trying to fix this auto problem themselves, and the content creator. We all see it once, maybe twice if ya get stuck. But Tattsforlife will see it far more times. How dare you ridicule someone who is helping you for free. You didn't just arrive here randomly, you had the specifically have a question about something this man took his time to explain and show you in a helpful and thorough manner. This specific transaxle is extremely difficult to find quality videos about. Who are you to say a got dang word about how that boy talks. If your mother hadn't taught you better than that, BzB 315, she must be just like you. Someone who's only way to feel good about themselves is to put someone else down. I'm sorry you weren't raised better than that. I'm sorry your mother and father weren't capable showing you what it really means to be a part of this earth. To be part of what makes us human is to BE human. A human with thoughts and feelings who respects and listens to others humanity. Your a beautiful human, Tattsforlife. I hope that this human here made your day like you made mine. Thank you for showing me I didn't have to buy a $250 application specific tool. May your heart stay calm and your conviction burn fierce. BzB 315, hopefully one day someone gives you a reason to be human.
