While mapping the shore line I’m getting erratic depth readings when go into 10’ ft or less any suggestions because it’s frustrating when trying to get accurate data I have a helix 9 chirp mega si gps g2n.

Could be a LOT of different things. Unfortunately, that's an extremely common problem with HB graphs. It's caused by many factors, including water clarity, bottom hardness, sensitivity settings, firmware version, and many others. If you've watched my other videos about mapping, you'll see that I have to go in and edit my data to remove the erroneous readings as well. My best advice is to get out on the lake, reset your graph to defaults, and go from there. Drive to somewhere that you're getting erroneous readings, then make only one adjustment at a time, and only to one thing. Observe the results. Keep adjusting until you get it how you want it - and then, remember how you got it that way, maybe write the settings down in a notebook. There is a VERY real possibility that you will need to adjust them again when you fish a different body of water. Sorry I didn't have a better, "magic bullet" solution for you, but there just isn't one. With all the advanced sonar and imaging tech built into these graphs, and how customizable HB made them for the user, unfortunately the possibility exists for them to be configured in a less-than-ideal fashion. Does anyone know how to edit the height a bunch of clustered data points that are wrong instead of doing them one by one? I don't want to delete them but I just want to change the height. The sonar gave me a bad reading for about 15 feet.

Sorry, I don't know how to do that. I typically fish the same lakes repeatedly, and I record sonar EVERY time I'm on the water. Because of that, I just delete the bad data, and it gets filled back in again the next time I'm out there.

Question for you.. I fought with auto chart live for 2 weeks after getting my helix 10 g4n. I could never see the colored path on the base map with contour lines as I mapped. Nobody, including Humminbird tech, could figure it out. Then by accident I found out that you have to zoom in to be able to see the depths and colored path as I map. Why doesn't anyone say you have to zoom on all these videos?

I have autochart PC Pro, but am having issues trying to import new data. When I first got the program and imported data from the ZLC, everything worked fine and I was able to generate maps. However, after the initial import, anything now that I import doesn’t show up. The only way I can get it to show is by selecting open. It then only shows data from that one file and all other data goes way. I’ve tried selecting “add file to chart file index” and it opens it but when I select new, all the old data returns but none of the new data appears. Do you have any idea what could be happening? The only way I have been able to get the new data to stay, is by completely removing the autochart pro pc program / reinstall and then import the new data & old data back in for the first time. Any idea on what I’m doing wrong or what the problem may be?

Try creating a new index. Then add the directory full of your recordings to the index.

Doing everything step by step per your instruction, and even from the instruction of other videos. I'm still not able to generate a map. I do notice that I'm not even getting that "BT" folder at all, and from what I understand, that could be the problem. You have any idea what I could be doing wrong sir?

The BT folder contains bottom hardness maps, so unless you generate a bottom hardness map, you won't get a BT folder. When you say "I'm...not able to generate a map", what does that mean, exactly? At which part in the process are you getting stuck?

@@RealLifeFishingWI Basically after I “Update Lakemaster Content”, which is updating that Zero Lines card with what’s needed to use it as a map, I’m assuming, and I put the card back in my unit, all I have is the original recording I made on the water. Not a Lakemaster type map. Hopefully that makes sense.

​@@RealLifeFishingWI Boom! Got it figured out. Appreciate the help brother! And I am your one subscriber today. I wish you many more though. Hopefully you don't mind if I have a couple more questions concerning Autochart Live. Seems like this tech stuff is your wheelhouse. It definitely isn't mine. Anyways, I run a Solix Mega SI Imaging + G2, and it seems as though my graph is struggling to generate a map when I'm recording on the water. Or it's taking forever. Like I have to zig zag an area 100 times to get something comparable to maps guys are making on here after just a handful of passes. Not only that, it's very spotty. Like it'll kind of be recording, then all of the sudden stop for like 50 feet, then start again. In and out of mapping. And I'm left with a spotty map. Another reason I have to keep criss crossing so much. Do you have any idea what I could be doing wrong? Is there a setting I have off? Is there a certain frequency I should be using?

Also, I suspect that I could have a power issue, after yesterday. My console unit froze about 30 times on the water and I was constantly having to restart it. Eventually I just gave up and left it off. Could this power issue be the problem, I wonder?

Not sure if you are still replying to comments, but you show creating a map of all the green data boxes by simply clicking “map”, mine will only open the select data boxes, not all and will not creat an entire map of all the boxes, only one? Also, when you correct bad data spots (deleted them in head unit and re-mapped those same areas, how do you overlay it or correct the original map?

Yeah, sorry, I've been working on other projects and sort of let this channel languish a bit.. I do need to come back to it. My apologies for the delay in responding!!! In any event, when you click "map here", it's not opening the files, per se - it's just loading the data from all the files covering that area to display the tracks. Opening the files is when you drill into one to edit the data. In any event, it should work exactly as shown in the video - right click, "map here", and it should show you all the tracks that you have data files for that cover that area. One thing to check is under the properties on your software, make sure you map size is large enough to cover the entire area you're trying to look at. I think the max is like 5000x5000. The default is pretty small, and that could possibly be what you're running into? There are only a handful of bodies of water I fish where the max size isn't sufficient. Hope this helps!!!
