You mentioned the difference in file size between AC live files and sonar logs. Do you notice a difference in the quality of map generated from one vs the other? Or is the extra data not used in the AC pc map generation? I have been using AC live files exclusively to generate my maps. Would love to compare notes one day. Cheers!

I haven't really noticed a difference in 2d map quality in terms of contours, but if you have pro & want to do side imaging mosaics, that data is all missing from the AC live files. The DI data stream is also absent. Just depends what you want to do, I guess.

So, a sonar log automatically includes SI? Even if you are not on an SI screen while recording? I never checked to see, but I will. I like your workflow, it is a bit different than mine. I will be adding a couple of your techniques. I’ve been thinking about a heading sensor, tho not really for accuracy. My finder is less than 4’ from my transducer. Keep up the good work.

Apologies for the delayed response! Correct - recording raw sonar data automatically records all sonar streams the graph is capable of producing, regardless which display screen is selected - with one possible exception. There's a setting buried in one of the firmware releases that I learned about in class.. If memory serves, it disables si when you're not looking at it. The setting is off by default, so si will always be enabled, and most people don't mess with it. I think it's called si history maybe? I'll see if I can locate the setting later & will do a short video on it. For most guys who have networked graphs & share sonar data, it would cause issues since my understanding is that the host graph would not process si data unless it was being displayed on the host graph, so you wouldn't be able to see it on a networked graph. I'll check that later as well. Also, check out my latest quick tip video (ipilot link goto circle) for an example of why I hate AC live. I was fishing a new lake Friday night that's not on lakemaster. I used AC live on my mapping graph so I'd have some data while I was out there, in real time. It kept disappearing. Lakemaster (and ac/AC pro) maps don't ever seem to do that.
