welcome to my guide how you can automate the tempo in FL studio higher than the limited standard value of 180BPM, it is very simple when you know how it's done but I know there may be many questions around this possibility either if it works or not to go higher than 180 BPM so I make this video to show how it is done :) enjoy!
Music used in this video are current work in progress i'm making now so they are both not yet released or perfect in any way but if you like what you hear you may check out my music channel Powertoast Music here:

Thank you very much!!! Also a thing I learned waaay to late: if you want to delete the tempo automation from the project (since it jumps to the last automation point when restarting the song in the playlist even after deleting the automation) just go to the top in your browser where it says "Current Project" and delete it under "Initialized controls" :)

Awesome thank you. The whole tempo automation thing in FL is so weird that I first struggled to accept it at all. Finding out that 180BPM was then the highest possible tempo to automate (why, so why???) almost wrecked my project. Then I found your tutorial. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for providing a revelation in under 4 minutes. Fl Studio is a great program but time automation can become such a mess. I reuglarily encounter the problem when recording metal songs with several tempo changes in it. You really helped me out!

very glad to hear my video could help! it was very hard to figure this out for me as well and after I finally knew how I wanted to share this with others that have the same trouble. I automate tempo pretty much but it can often lead to glitches when reloading a track resulting in samples getting wrong pitch but it can be fixed anyway. happy music making!

I don't understand why 180 is considered the default "max". Genres such as powermetal and thrash might think of that 180 as a bare minimum, minus the ballads. Thanks for this tip!
@Pulverrostmannen
@Pulverrostmannen 2 жыл бұрын
I can’t do anything else than agree with you that it is a strange standard setting. And even if you don’t really make a track above 180bpm you may still want to work in the higher tempo setting also. I do this a lot to get certain instruments to play the way I want so it’s very common to work in the double speed to make patterns and stuff easier in the piano roll than to chop up in half notes and stuff. It’s why I figure out and share how I could make it possible myself :) glad to help others know this too

Make a video on how to record on a tempo automation in low latency without having crackling noises I have experienced an issue on my beast pc that my cpu is very low thru out the whole project until my tempo spikes in my project then it steadily stays around 77ish when it hits my automation clip and the only way to record on it is to keep the buffer size huge which can work but makes recording annoying cuz I prefer low latency recording all my settings are cpu friendly and I’ve tried anything if anyone has any solutions and stumbles upon this impress me
@Pulverrostmannen
@Pulverrostmannen 6 ай бұрын
I can have a look what buffer size I am using myself. But it would be interesting to know how your cores are loaded separately. You can check this in your taskmanager in windows and make sure you change the graph to logical CPUs. I have the experience that FL studio is rather bad dividing the load over many cores so even if you have a ton of cores in your cpu the individual performance of them can be a bottleneck as there is no real way of dividing a demanding thread over more cores. I can get issues with performance when a lot is going on with my old 4790K I am using

what do i have to do when i have the guitar tracks also because all the time i do this my audios will stretch and it overlaps ? what do i do ?
@Pulverrostmannen
@Pulverrostmannen Жыл бұрын
Yes, this is the most common problem using dynamic tempo with audio clips. Usually after you make the automation and let the project play it should stretch the audio along with the tempo changes. Even though they can overlap in the playlist normally they should sound correctly. Another problem I encountered can also be a change in pitch of the audio played even if it was correct to begin after loading back a project. It normally works to drag the edge of the audio to stretch it out and then take it back to where it was it should correct the pitch again. Another way to fix this issue is to duplicate the audio sample and use this in the faster section so that your audio is playing correctly at each different tempo. I seen these problems with all versions of FL so it is likely issues we gonna have to deal with for times to come too. It is finicky but when you know the quirks you can also work around them :)

@Pulverrostmannen 6 жыл бұрын
That is a good question actually, my guess is to make it more accurate when working with the automation patterns on the playlist as standard as a minor movement will make a huge change there if the limits are maxed out, but who wants to have like 176,49 bpm on a project lol. I always go with copy and paste for tempo speeds so why not have a higher threshold for this one right away
@NotRenjiro
@NotRenjiro Жыл бұрын
Just messes everything up. Now it starts at like 300 bpm or some bs
@Pulverrostmannen
@Pulverrostmannen Жыл бұрын
Yes, by changing the maximum values you change the range of the automation and also the actual bpm in the project if you already have a certain speed. The automation is a range of percent of the total value so all you need to do is to add in the new values in the automation clip. Pause the project, adjust the desired bpm. Right click the bpm box and copy value. Chose no if it ask to adjust the audio clips. Otherwise the bpm also changes again. Pick the point of the automation clip and paste the value. Repeat this over the project in the points you wish to adjust the speed. Now it should work for you. If you want additional info let me know. Good luck
@NotRenjiro
@NotRenjiro Жыл бұрын
@@Pulverrostmannen I just want it to go from what it is now to an extra 60%. Copying the value doesn't work and the max and min mess it all up.
@Pulverrostmannen
@Pulverrostmannen Жыл бұрын
@@NotRenjiro it sounds like you are missing some step to complete the automation. It is important to have the automation clip covering the whole playlist length in your project from start to end. And that you right click the automation line to create dots in the parts you want to change the tempo. After you created a tempo automation the values you have in this will be absolute and it will change the playing tempo no matter what you type into the project tempo speed window. You must copy and paste your new values into your automation clip line on the playlist after you change the limiting values of your tempo automation in the audio rack. When you first make your automation the value of this will be made to your current tempo if it is below 180BPM. When you then adjust your maximum value setting your new speed with be higher as your automation points will be at the same place in the playlist but your total speed will be higher as of the total range is now higher. That is why you must also manually adjust these points in the automation at your playlist as well to make your speed play correctly again. You may see this same thing happen in my video when first making the adjustments. I also tested this with FL21 now and it works the same as before
@NotRenjiro
@NotRenjiro Жыл бұрын
@@Pulverrostmannen It's been two days. Since I've tested it last time, the maximum value changed the start and finish. Copy pasting didn't work for some reason. I'll try it again. It's an about 10 second clip that I have already slowed down to 80%. I now want to get faster, up to 140% at the end.
@Pulverrostmannen
@Pulverrostmannen Жыл бұрын
@@NotRenjiro yeah, it will work when you do it right. As you changed the project tempo after you adjusted the automation limit you are already half way there. After that is done you need to adjust the automation line in the playlist and it should work. It’s why you have to chose no after you adjust the speed at the toolbar of FL studio. As the value otherwise will go back to what it was because the automation values are absolute and above any other setting as soon as you start playing the track
