Morning Reptile Army! Happy Sunday! We have the first snow flurries of the year happening right now! Crazy to think that the cold and snow season is here. But that brings great Python and Boa breeding! So theres always a positive in every situation! I wanted to make todays video because I get asked all the time how to not get bitten by your pet snake. Its a lot simpler then most people think. I look at reptiles in the simplest way and try to really think like them. Its easy to figure them out once you can simplify the way you go about it. I hope this will help some of you out! Have a wonderful day and remember how much you all mean to me! Love you all! Brian

Seriously one of the most gratifying feelings is when your naturally defensive critter realises that you aren't a threat - I've got my Ball (granted they are pretty chill critters) to the point he will fall asleep draped across me like a seatbelt with his head on my shoulder... it's the coolest feeling

Brian Thank You for doing this segment!! I’ve been in the hobby for almost 28 years and had many awesome species. With that said I have a large Asian Water Monitor who is only 1.5 years old and I took a very quick bite last month but it was definitely a terrible hand bite.... 8 staples on the palm. I still handle him constantly because he is still in flight mode. I’ve had huge ones before but this guy I wanted to raise from a hatching. I was afraid for about 2 weeks after the bite but knew I had to keep up non stressful handling. I’ve tried to explain that to people but many don’t understand non stressful and how long it can take at times. Keep trying people, it’s been proven now that most defensive reptiles can become trusting and handled without problems. Keep up the excellent work Brian!!!!

I don’t know how old your Munchkin is, but it might help to build on what Brian was saying. I have two ASD cousins, and when they get freaked out by something they have all sorts of habits to try and deal with it, head banging, screaming, rocking, super touch aversion etc. Maybe frame it with your little mans way of dealing with scary things, and explain that his snake strikes are the same. The snake doesn’t understand that he is safe, and he’s scared and so he strikes. Hopefully it’ll maybe help the munchkin keep his motivation by drawing the parallels between him and the snake. Good luck! Hope the best for y’all!

I know you’re excited about the new build. And you have some amazing BIG animals from lizards to snakes. I was wondering if had ever thought of setting aside a corner for “The REPTARIUM In Miniature” And in this possible “REPTARIUM Miniature” stocking it with the smallest snakes found on the plant and lizards, even include small frogs. I just thinks little kids would get a blast out of it.
