thank you so much!! i was so frustrated at how i magically twisted my stitches while seemingly not making any intentional changes. Now I know what I did different! During my purling I purled clockwise instead of counter clockwise which resulted in twisted row when I turned the work to knit the front

That's such a "classic" move that you don't know you are doing it until someone points it out. Glad I could help!

Thank you so much! I didn't realize I was wrapping my purls clockwise and couldn't figure out where all the extra texture was coming from! This was super helpful!

I guess I've been doing combination knitting this whole time and I've been worried I've been doing things wrong because all the tutorials show going through the front loop to knit. Thank you for explaining it!

Excellent teaching and explanation. I know these videos are time consuming to make but please make more in knitting and crochet. I love learning the technical details and know others do too. Also like the time stamps you have listed above to easily find what I'm looking for if I need to watch again.

Thanks so much for this video. It was very informative and your explanations were quite thorough. I'm a lefthanded crafter and am still a novice knitter. I never fully understood why my knitting was twisting until now. Thanks again.

That's what I like to hear! (Well, not that your stitches were twisted, but that you figured it out.)

I've been knitting since I was about 14. Once, in all that time, someone told me to look out for twisted stitches, but no one ever told me how to avoid them or what was causing them. I've been doing my purls clockwise all this time. My mind is blown.

I'm not sure whether to say "You're welcome" or "I'm sorry". It's always a shock to realize there was something we didn't know, that we didn't know we didn't know.

@@EdieEckman No, thank you!! I wish the person who had noticed my stitches were twisting had explained! I've looked up so many "twisted stitch" videos trying to figure out why mine were consistently getting twisted, and they were all the same information about seeing how the stitch is seated, and how you can fix it, which didn't help PREVENT, you know?

@@EdieEckman lol, just to be sure I'm not losing my marbles, which direction are you supposed to go on knit stitches? I've always done counter-clockwise, but now I'm questioning everything!

The books I have my Mother ( RIP) got me as presents. They are " Around the Corner Crochet Borders" and I lent the other one and didn't get it back they said they'd mislaid it. Sure I thought this Edie Eckman was a Man. Mother passed away Christmas 2017 and has left a house full of wool, she was more an Aran knitter than Crochet but wanted me to Crochet like her Mother. So my intentions are to use up all her wool as she wanted. I can follow tutorials better than patterns. Surely I've already subscribed to your you tube and I've looked up the link. I'll sort out how to do the link when my daughter comes home. Thank you so much and hopefully you'll do more You Tube I follow that best. My God you're gifted. God Bless Your Hands. Ann Marie

I’ve just picked up knitting continental and am having trouble with twisting only the first stitch of every row, this leaves my edges bumpy and uneven while the rest of my work is smooth. Do you happen to know what I’m doing wrong?
@EdieEckman25 күн бұрын
It could be that the first stitch is not actually twisted. The edges of both garter stitch and stockinette stitch are naturally a bit bumpy because the yarn turns and changes direction there. It would be hard for me to say for sure without seeing your work.

I’m doing fair isle and trying to learn continental knitting so color dominance, catching floats, etc is easier- but I keep twisting stitches sometimes. Wonder what I’m doing- maybe knitting through the back loop, as I’m making sure to go counter clockwise

That might be what you are doing, but it's hard to tell without seeing you. Watch me do it on kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYK1hatplp2naM0.

Are you the Edie Eckman that has Crochet books on borders etc? Have these books and can't do without them. Tutorials from the books would be so helpful. Ann Marie Murphy ( From Ireland )
